I'm an MPhil History graduate at the University of Cambridge, specialising in the history of political thought. During my undergraduate degree, I studied a range of historical periods and themes, including but not limited to: British history (both political and social/economic) 1700-1886, European history 1714-1848, Classical Greece, Republican Rome, and political thought from 400 BC to the present day.
At Cambridge, teaching is conducted through utterly personalised, one-to-one supervisions where work is discussed in intense detail and every unique, individual need can be addressed. This is the spirit I bring to my own lessons. I have no set curriculum, and shall suffer no standard-issue powerpoints - every lesson is designed to the finest point with a particular student in mind. A discursive approach allows total focus on their particular weaknesses and aims, and devoted attention to written work ensures that, unlike in standard classroom lessons, the student can become well-versed and confident in the nature of essay-technique and argumentation, thereby taking the imposing mystery out of exam preparation.
I have been tutoring professionally for more than two years and have logged more than 1000+ lessons. I began tutoring for University admissions, coaching for interviews, HAT/HAA admissions exams, and general academic preparation through wider-reading. It has been my great privilege to see all of my students so far invited for interviews, and more than 80% to achieve their places in Oxbridge. I teach history and politics at all levels, most commonly A-Level and GCSE. In some extreme cases, my students have managed to increase their marks by ~15 per essay. Almost all of my GCSE/A-Level student have advanced by one or two grades after a course of lessons, or have achieved an A*/9.
For history, I am most well-versed in all British papers (particularly the Tudors, Rebellion, and 19th century), the Cold War, and Russia (Tsars until Stalin), but I am able to take on almost all available courses with a little notice.
I also tutor GCSE Latin, Religious Studies, and Philosophy.
For history, I am most well-versed in Weimar/Nazi Germany, all British papers (particularly the Tudors, Rebellion, and 19th century), the Cold War, and Russia (Tsars until Stalin), but I am able to take on almost all available courses with a little notice.
I teach Government and Politics regularly, which was my best subject when I sat A-Levels myself. I have taught all exam boards.
I also tutor GCSE Latin, Religious Studies, and Philosophy.
