I have 15 years' experience as a chemistry and physics teacher at a successful UK Independent School. Many of the students I teach are from international destinations. I have delivered courses as a visiting lecturer to undergraduate students studying biochemistry. Much of my subject knowledge has been gained from various industrial sectors. This enables me to put chemistry problems into context very easily, so things are not just a theoretical exercise! As a qualified teacher, I have developed skills to assist learners for whom English is an additional language. I keep up to date with best practice by attending regular CPD events focused on subject content and cognitive science. Over the years, many of my students have been successful in gaining places to study medicine, dentistry, engineering and natural sciences at top UK Universities such as Cambridge, LSE, Warwick, Durham. I encourage my students to participate in UK chemistry challenges such as the Cambridge C3L6 competition and the RSC Chemistry Olympiad. Practical science is at the heart of all that I do, which is now a core component of chemistry specifications.
Extensive subject knowledge and awareness of tricky concepts that cause problems. Easy to talk to. Can quickly devise strategies that can be used to help make rapid progress towards your goals. Can cover any exam board for GCSE chemistry and physics. Excellent knowledge of all UK Chemistry A level boards: OCR, AQA, OCR B, WJEC (Eduqas in England), Edexcel. Overseas boards, Cambridge International and Edexcel International chemistry A level are no problem. I aim to provide regular feedback and marking advice as part of the service.
