I am an academic, business founder, author, editor, company director and consultant, with over 30 years’ experience in academia and the commercial world. I have held a variety of roles in universities, including Research, Ethics and Governance Lead, Research Degrees Coordinator and Senior Lecturer in HRM and Organisational Behaviour.
I founded and run an education consultancy in which I offer specialist online subject tuition in a range of topics; provide advice, guidance and support with assessments, dissertations and theses and troubleshoot a range of academic-related problems. I also design bespoke academic and executive development courses for clients.
I am a published author and use my extensive experience of authoring various works, including books, study guides, articles and online learning materials to develop students’ academic writing and critical thinking skills and enhance the ways in which they can structure and write their assessments, dissertations and theses more creatively and from multiple perspectives.
I have also been a company director for over 20 years and am currently working with an organisation to implement strategic corporate and cultural change. This experience is a vitally important aspect of my tutoring and enables me to bring the business world to life for students by empowering them to critically apply theory to real-world organisational practice, solve complex problems and champion change.
As Senior Lecturer, I taught on undergraduate degrees, including the BA/BSc (Hons) in Business Management (with HRM, Financial Management and Marketing Management specialisms) and MSc degrees in Business Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management and Strategic Leadership and Change, which was specifically designed for NHS executives and aspiring managers. These were delivered via a combination of lectures, workshops and distance, blended and action learning. I also tutored junior, middle and senior managers in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
In my role as Research Degrees Coordinator, I designed, implemented and led the Doctoral Training Programme for new PhD and MRes students, which incorporated all aspects of the research process, from selecting a viable and appropriate topic to data collection, analysis and writing up. I also ran workshops on writing and presenting conference papers and writing the research proposal. As a qualitative researcher, I use a methodical, critical thinking approach to tutoring and enjoy exploring knowledge and theories from multiple perspectives.
I have supervised over 200 master’s student dissertations to completion, many of whom achieved distinctions and merits. My own MSc dissertation was awarded A++. I also supervise PhD students and have two completions.
My dedication to teaching, learning and student development throughout my career was recognised in the 2013 MMU Annual Student Union Awards. I was shortlisted for the ‘Outstanding Innovation in Teaching’ Award and nominated for the ‘Best Teacher Award’. I strive to ensure all my students are given the best possible learning experience and are engaged and empowered to achieve excellent results, and realise their full potential, by believing in themselves and their abilities.
I have served as External Examiner and Chief Examiner, and written distance learning materials, examination papers and assessments for many universities and professional bodies.

Great tutor
Dr. Jacqueline was an outstanding tutor for my master's thesis. Her insightful feedback and support made a significant difference in my thesis. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated mentor. Thank you for all your support through this process.

Again. Dr. Jacqueline is the best!!! I am so gald that I found her:)
She has carefully considered my assessment and provided detailed feedback within the timescale, helping me understand the gaps in my work. Thank you, Dr. Jacqueline
Super helpful, approachable and knowledgable.
I was hoping to finish formulating the research questions in this lesson, but perhaps in the next lesson.
Great! She really understood my assignment and we kicked off immediately.
Very helpful and informative.
Thank you so much. It was a good class that give me a lot of things. Thanks a lot Dr Jacqueline
TOM, Dissertation:
Jacqueline was an exceptional tutor for my dissertation project. Her deep understanding of the subject, timely and effective feedback, and expertise in academic writing and literature greatly enhanced my work. Jacqueline truly makes the difference. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a dedicated and knowledgeable mentor. Her contributions have been invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful for her support throughout the process.
SAMANTHA, MBA Dissertation:
Academic Angel - Dr Jacqueline McLean. As a distance learner MBA student, I had to think smart for the last part of my MBA, the dissertation. I needed someone to help guide me as I was overwhelmed and had no clue where to start! Thank you to The Profs for introduction who came to me as a recommendation from The Grad Coach. Now, where do I start with Dr Jacqueline McLean?! Not only was it a God send directly from heaven, but she actually invested time and effort in me which I was not expecting. To locate someone of her calibre (She is a Dr, a published author, and has been cited in many publications), to work with me in the trenches (I am a first time dissertation writer!) was just lucky. She taught me so much! She assisted with the following: 1) Up my academic game from language to techniques in general. 2) Teaching me a research module I had missed which was key to produce a dissertation. Whoops to me - thank god for her! 3) Being willing to guide me through the academic process and protocols which I was unaware of that needed to occur during writing a dissertation. 4) Helped me with a battle plan and a structured approach towards the MBA. 5) Be that second pair of eyes to read what I had produced and offer brilliant direction and suggestions. I learnt so much from her, she is honestly part of my MBA memories forever! Thankful and grateful to her!
OLIVIA, MSc Dissertation:
Outstanding and exceptional, the best decision I have made. I was really struggling with my dissertation; my supervisor was of no help whatsoever. So, I turned to Dr Jacqueline McLean. I have never met someone so hardworking and dedicated. She helped steer me in the right direction and helped me shape my dissertation, which my supervisor SHOULD have done…but in the end…I went to her because she was quite simply…the best…I can honestly say I have learnt more from her than I have at my time at university. There are no words that can convey my gratitude towards her. She always responded to me very quickly and always made time to look at my work and provide me with feedback that was extremely helpful and constructive. We worked tirelessly together, and I always felt she got the best out of me. I have now submitted my dissertation. I could not be happier, and could not recommend her enough.
EHIZ, PhD Thesis:
Dr Jacqueline has been a breath of fresh air as she has helped me bring my work back to life. I had so many struggles academically before being introduced to Dr Jacqueline on The Profs, up to the point that I almost felt like a shadow of myself due to the lack of support from my University. However, ever since I met Dr Jacqueline, I began experiencing her patient style of tutoring, teaching and even mentoring. She goes above and beyond, and I have been greatly encouraged by her adept understanding of my struggles and the knowledge and skills that she's imparted in me (in such a short period). My writing confidence has improved, especially with the tips she often gives. My thesis has gotten back on track, and since I started working with Dr Jacqueline, I have had no regrets. Instead, I have learnt some key life lessons. In summary, Dr Jacqueline taught me how to learn again.
