I have a BA in Classics from Oxford University and an MA in classical languages from the Humboldt University in Berlin. I'm particularly interested in ancient medicine and ancient technical and scientific writing.
Over the past eight years I have tutored students regularly in Latin, Ancient Greek and Classics. I am very familiar with the OCR syllabuses for Latin, Greek and Classics both at GCSE and A-level, and have developed my own resources designed to tackle set texts, unseen passages, translation from English into Latin/Greek and to reach the required level of grammatical understanding. I have also tutored pupils for the IB Latin research dossier and exam.
I have experience teaching pupils from aged 10 upwards, both tutoring alongside school syllabuses and teaching for pupils taking exams independently. In addition, I have experience with preparing pupils for common entrance and scholarship entrance exams in Latin and Greek, including one student who was awarded a Kings Scholarship at Eton, with particularly impressive results in ancient Greek.
In addition to these regular students, I have tutored pupils for competition essays, including those for the St John's College Oxford prize and the Mary Renault Prize, encouraging high-achieving pupils to think creatively and write fluently. I also assist with preparation for the Oxbridge classics aptitude tests and admissions procedure for Classics.
