About Me
I'm from Portugal but started my teaching career in London, UK. After two years, I moved back to Portugal to teach at an International School. I am now in my third international school. My favourite topics to teach are Atomic and Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics (Physics) and Organic Chemistry and Spectroscopic Indetification of Organic Compounds (Chemistry).
Tutor Experience
I have been teaching IB DP Physics SL/HL and DP Chemistry SL/HL in international schools since 2007, in addition to MYP Physics and Chemistry. I have extensive experience in preparing students for MYP eAssessments and DP Physics and Chemistry exams, as well as extensive experience with Internal Assessments as well as Extended Essays in these two subjects. I have also taught Maths to lower MYP and TOK in the past.
In the past 5 years I have been an examiner for IB Physics SL/HL (P3 and IAs).
I have +16 years experience in teaching and tutoring students, for different examination boards: national curriculum, IGCSE (Edexcel and CIE), AS level and mostly IB DP and MYP Physics and Chemistry. In recent years, I've also prepared students for their BMAT exams.
I often use real-life examples and diagrams (with really nice stick figures) to make Science easier to understand. My lessons focus on exam preparation by breaking down content in manageable chunks and by exploring as many exams questions as possible.
Topic Expertise
I have a Msc in Physics and Chemistry and have been teaching IB MYP (General Science, Physics and Chemistry) and DP Physics and Chemistry (SL/HL) since 2007. I have supervised students with their Extended Essays in Physics and Chemistry. I have also tutored students for IGCSE Physics and Chemistry (Edxecel and CIE), as well as AS-level Chemistry.
