About Me

Rugby - I played the sport for 40 years playing for my county being my proudest moment. I have also coached the game for 30 years coaching U18 level school sides , U17 Area 7 in the Southwest and organised and ran the Devon County 7's Tournament.

Cycling – I have completed a couple of Tours in the Peak District, enjoy the challenge on the road with the beautiful countryside around me. I am also a member Zwift which challenges me in the garage!

Weight-training – I enjoy this as it improves my mental strength and is also a great challenge.

Tutor Experience

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Fully Qualified Teacher of Chemistry, Physics and Science for 33+ years, Examiner in Chemistry and Physics for 25+ years

July 1988 - Present

I have extensive experience of teaching Chemistry to GCSE, IGCSE and A level with Physics to GCSE and IGCSE across different exam boards. I am currently teaching Physics GCSE at a good school in Greater Manchester. I have taught in a variety of different settings from independent boarding, single sex independent, missed independent day and state academies. During the pandemic I devised a focused online curriculum in KS4 Physics and KS3 Science to give my pupils an online learning experience whether it be a one-to-one support session or a full lesson with a large group of pupils. Since the pandemic, I have significant experience in hybrid or blended learning giving pupils present and pupils at home an outstanding learning experience. More recently I have tried to bridge the with extra morning sessions which are well attended to prepare them for the first public examinations since 2019. Being an examiner for both Chemistry (GCSE, A level) and a current examiner for Physics (GCSE) I am aware of how pupils can overcome common issues and improve their grades using my focussed revision programmes.

Topic Expertise

I am able to teach all topics and papers for Chemistry, Physics and Combined Science to all tiers at GCSE and IGCSE level and all topics and papers for A level Chemistry.

I have worked for OCR as an examiner and a coursework moderator for Chemistry A level and GCSE. I currently examine GCSE Physics for Edexcel.
