Over the past three years I have carried out 200+ hours of tuition covering GCSE Maths/Science, A-level Science, BMAT, UCAT, personal statements, mock interviews (panel, MMI and Oxbridge) and supercurricular medicine. Through this I have developed effective teaching strategies and resources for the students. Many of my students have gone on to achieve Oxbridge offers and all have achieved at least one medical school offer. My philosophy is to work on the students weaker subjects and skills, and make sure they are fully prepared for all question types.

Lewis's last completed BMAT job with Ishrat: 1-2 hrs/week - I am looking for a BMAT tutor for my son.
I have tutored over 50 hours online. I have extensive experience tutoring undergraduates in essay-writing, both for exams and assignments, including dissertations. Essay subjects I have experience in include Social Policy, Public Health, Political Science, International Relations, and Nutrition. I also have experience tutoring students interested in applying to Medicine, preparing for interviews and entrance exams. Additionally, I have taught small groups of medical students on physiology, and tutored A-level biology. Last summer, I worked as an English teacher at an English language immersion camp for European students in Croatia.
I am an enthusiastic and energetic individual who is both self-motivated and proactive. An excellent communicator at all levels internal & external, can be relied on to work well both as part of a team and individually. Thrives on a challenge and have delivered my best results when faced with pressing targets.
I hold a Bachelors degree from queen Margaret University in pharmacology, a MSc in Cancer Therapeutics from Barts and the London School of Medicine and I currently finishing my PhD from Barts Cancer Institute. I have a vast experience of teaching at all levels and currently teach two days a week.
Ramsay's last completed BMAT job with Inessa: Intensive - I am struggling with all parts of the test but I especially need help with section three. Section one seems hard as well, and for section two I just need to refresh my knowledge.
I have worked as a professional tutor and educational consultant for six years. I have taught dozens of students for thousands of hours in total. I have also worked as a teacher in an independent school in North London.
I have had many successful students; a few examples include:
>Three admitted to study HSPS at Cambridge.
>One admitted to all three of Westminster, Winchester, and St.Paul's for 13+.
>One who gained 84/84 marks in his A-Level Politics Paper 2, which is now being used as an exemplar.
>One who gained an A in A-Level History after being predicted a C.
I believe that the most important virtue in a tutor is the ability to empathise with a student's cognitive position. When teaching I aim to guide a student through the mental steps needed to accomplish the goal of the lesson.
I typically spend much of a lesson in dialogue with the student. I break this up with exercises to embed and reinforce key points, but I always end the lesson with a call to reflection on what the student has learned. I emphasise that knowledge is open-ended and interconnected.
I have experience tutoring students in biology, chemistry, mathematics, English, and history, and have also helped with university admissions.
I have worked in three different paid tutoring positions, both full time and part time. I have worked with groups and one-on-one with private clients, and have experience tutoring online. My clients have ranged in age from 6 to 18 years of age.
Apart from this, I have also worked as a volunteer tutor in less formal arrangements at school and university. These were generally with younger students in the same courses who benefitted from my prior experience of the syllabus.
I have been a professional tutor since 2006.
Across all of the different subjects I teach, I always notice the same thing: the main difficulty that learners encounter is getting overwhelmed by what they're trying to learn. It could be that there seems to be simply too much material to cover; it could be that the concepts seem too difficult; it could be that the whole thing causes anxiety for some completely different reason which is apparently unrelated to the 'academic' side of things.
I help remove anxiety, regardless of what form it might take, in whatever way seems like it will help each individual most. Before long, it becomes possible to see the task in hand with different eyes – indeed, more importantly, at this point most of my students come to see their own abilities entirely differently. They may have come to me with a fixed idea of what they are 'bad' at, but I help them to realise that they have skills they hardly suspected.
I have previously enjoyed tutoring students for their 11+/13+ examinations, GCSEs, A-Levels and for Oxbridge or medical school application. In recent years, I have also had the opportunity to work on a number of summer camps and private Oxford study programs for students ranging from 9 to 21 years old.
Adam's last completed BMAT job with Inessa: Intensive - I am struggling with all parts of the test but I especially need help with section three. Section one seems hard as well, and for section two I just need to refresh my knowledge.
I trained as an NCO in the air cadets, I taught cadets for 2 years in Croydon. I frequently help out at access events both at 6th form and Oxford University and I am always keen for students to apply themselves in thinking scientifically about the world. I have experience in 'experimental teaching' as this is one of my tutors areas of research.
I've tutored students to GCSE level for 3 years and am good at explaining unfamiliar concepts. I invested a lot of time during my A Levels to make sure I really understood concepts and that has given me a really good scientific grounding which I can use to help students. I aim to break complex problems into manageable chunks and ensure that students can fully understand each step. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths to A2 and Physics and Further Maths to AS all on AQA.
