Shahid $75-85/hr

MSc - Manchester

I estimate I have at least 6000 hours of experience, having been a tutor since 2011. I initially started teaching Maths and Physics to Engineering students at University and I gradually expanded into secondary school level tuition. I have worked full time as a tutor since 2012 and during that time I have taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering.

I have taught A Levels, IGCSE/GCSE, IB, Pre-U, AP and I have covered nearly every exam board including Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC. All of my students are seeking to get into top Univeristies.
What makes me a good tutor is my ability to break down a subject and cover it in a particular order so that a student who might not have a good understanding can understand how to progress through the topics. It doesn't hurt that I have a sense of humour and make my lessons actually fun and enjoyable.

Shahid's last completed Mechanical Engineering job with Saffron: Intensive - Hi - My daughter is doing a BTEC in Mechanical Engineering and needs some help with some of her assignments. Mostly maths related help. Is this something you could do and if so when would you be available. Thanks

Fabio $40-50/hr

Mechanical Engineering - Univeristy of Brescia

I am an Engineer with 8+ years of experience in teaching, tutoring and coaching students from GCSE and A-Levels to undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

I started tutoring students since 2011 when I gained a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, performing one to one and group sessions up to 6 students.

I culminated my passion for teaching in China, where I taught two subjects related to Aerodynamics and Thermodynamics:
• Engine Systems and Aerodynamics
• Performance Modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics

I delivered technical lessons to two groups of 150 students who are attending their Bachelor Degree in Automotive Engineering at the Automotive University of Hubei, in Shiyan City, China.
The best students have been selected to attend their last university career at the University of Bolton, UK.

Fabio's last completed Mechanical Engineering job with Antoine: Occasional - I’m in first year of aeronautical engineering at Imperial College and unfortunately, I didn’t manage a clear pass. I failed two modules and have to re-sit « properties of materials » and « aerodynamics/aircraft performance » at the end of August. My grade in AP is so low, it made me fail aerodynamics too, which was easy.
I am looking for tutoring sessions on those modules to be sure I don’t miss any concept and get well prepared.

Would you be interested in discussing further how you could help me in the three coming weeks ?

Fabio's last review in Mechanical Engineering from Gene: Review the exercise Fantastic!

shirin $75-85/hr

PhD - Imperial College London

I have always been passionate about teaching, I started volunteering as a teacher assistant whilst studying for my undergraduate degree at both Primary Schools and Secondary Schools. I also mentored first year university students when I was in my final year. I started teaching as a graduate teaching assistant when I started my PhD. With my successful profile and excellent feedbacks both from students and lecturers I begun to tutor students to achieve their goals after completing my PhD and until now I have received lots of great reviews.

shirin's last completed Mechanical Engineering job with Maga: Occasional - I’m struggling to get ready for my second year “Structures”. I need tutor ASAP. I’m familiar with most of the concept but need someone to go through a past paper or two.

Antony $40-50/hr

Quantum Information Science - University of Bristol

I have been tutoring full-time for the past 5+ years accruing over 100 students and 3000 hours. My experience initially spanned from KS3 to A-level and in the last year moved to GCSE, A-Level and Undergraduate only.

My key abilities are as follows:
Long-term commitment to my students
Applying a structured plan to ongoing sessions.
Being spontaneous with short-term clients wanting ad-lib sessions.
Encouraging parents' involvement depending on the maturity of the student.
Sensitive and attentive to discern your needs and gain a clear perspective for devising long-term progression.
Consider where everyone (student/parent/school teacher) is coming from and create sessions that are complementing the students' learning.
Establish gaps that are not being filled in the classroom.
Providing a welcome and relaxed environment, which is conducive to working efficiently.
Consistency and reliability to enable relationship development.
Discerning when you need a soft touch, a firm hand, inspiration, or encouragement.
Where lack of confidence is present, I will help you recognise correct thinking and working and help reveal that you do know what you are doing. This self-reflection helps to build natural esteem.
Encouraging you to be open to getting things wrong, which plays a fundamental role in getting it correct.
Homework. It is an important tool for me to test your understanding and progress. However, I will be aware if it creates an overload with school work.
Spending time developing exam technique early on in the academic year, helping you become familiar and relaxed with exam-style questions.
Clear communication with parents and students, with regular check-ins to assist progress.

Seeing the vast array of different situations student find themselves in has made me increasingly sensitive to other areas of their lives that might be impacting their studies. As a result, I am very open to discussing anything with them should they bring it up or I sense there is something playing on their mind. I find this really helps build a welcome environment for the student and makes them more relaxed in the session, which is invaluable for study.

Most of my clients have been on a one-to-one basis and have worked with them for a few months to 3 years or more. I have had intermittent experience working with groups of 2 to 6 students in local schools and also worked on a one-to-one basis with children with SEN.

Most of my work has been in a face-to-face setting but over the last 2-3 years I have been working with increasingly more students in an online capacity and a few internationally.

I have covered all the main exam boards (AQA, Edexcel and OCR) with students for both GCSE Maths and Science and have experience with IGCSE Edexcel Maths and IAQA Science.
For A-Level I have covered extensively OCR and Edexcel Maths syllabus. I focus on all the core modules and specialise in mechanics.
In A-level physics, I have covered AQA, OCR and WJEC.
For Undergraduates I am currently limiting myself to 1st year material, of which I will consider anything but it needs to be cleared with me and I will need course notes to vet first. So far I have had a couple of students both requiring support with Mathematical Methods for Physicists.
