Lewis $70-80/hr

PhD - Queen Mary University of London

A tutor who primarily focuses on understanding the 'why' of problems and content rather than rote learning material.

During my undergraduate in Warwick I gained ample teaching experience, leading two groups of five first year students for over 80 hours in helping with assignments and consolidation of class material.

Since starting at Queen Mary I have gained further experience in delivering undergraduate material to large classes, delivering a variety of outreach lectures to secondary school students introducing them to basic topology and random graphs, as well as delivering a range one-to-one tuition sessions from GCSE to A Level up to early undergraduate for a total of more than 50 hours.

I also have experience teaching younger students (7-14) the basics of programming in Python as a CodeToday tutor, where I taught real programming in a very hands on problem solving style.

Lewis's last completed STEP job with Lisa: 1-2 hrs/week - I’m looking for a tutor who is able to work during 20th December to 6th January this holiday season. My son is currently in lower 6th form studying further maths A level and looking to do STEP for Cambridge admissions.

Jonny $50-60/hr

Mathematics/Education - Cambridge University, OU, UEA

I have vast experience of teaching mathematics and further mathematics to A Level, having taught in three different sixth form colleges for a total of 25 years. I thrive when working on maths with learners; it's a subject I love, and the question of how best to communicate it is one that fascinates me. I'm well-qualified; my first degree at Cambridge University (where I won a scholarship) was in Mathematics and Education, and I have an MSc in Mathematical Research from the University of East Anglia. I also have a Cert. Ed. from Cambridge University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education from the Open University. I'm a keen member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics, and I'm constantly trying to improve my teaching in discussion with others.

Lindsay $45-55/hr

Mathematics - University of Cambridge

During the next few months children are going to need extra support to keep up with their school work. I have been teaching children online for 7 years so I have the experience and resources to help. Lessons take place using Zoom. I show questions on the screen and can write working out using my graphics tablet. I can help y10s and y12s to continue working towards their GCSE and A level exams next summer and provide support for y11s who wish to start working on the A level course early. Also I can tutor y7 to y9, focusing on keeping the basics going for them so that they are able to return to school confidently.

I teach A-level maths and further maths, GCSE, iGCSE, OCR FSMQ, the QTS Numeracy test and STEP Assignments.

I have been a professional tutor for over 30 years and have taught online for 7 years. I have helped to improve the results and confidence of many different types of students. Often I have been asked to tutor younger siblings and get new students via recommendations.

For the further maths A level I can assist with CP1, CP2, FM1, FM2 and FP1.

Virender $55-65/hr

Honours Mathematics; Applied Statistics; PGCPE - University of Southampton; BPP University

I believe that a good tutor combines teaching and mentoring in a way that encourages students to use their own thinking and ability, set their own ‘agenda’, ask questions and then works with them to improve their self- confidence and ability in the subject.

I have degrees in Mathematics, Statistics and Teaching, and have taught Mathematics and Statistics at Advanced, Foundation and University levels to a variety of students.

I teach A-level Maths and Statistics at school and also tutor students studying for AS, A2, IB exams under various boards (OCR, CIE, Edexcel, AQA, MAT/STEP, GRE). Topics covered have been in Core Maths, Further Maths and Statistics.

I have taught courses in Maths and Statistics at Universities. Also I have tutored University level students on topics covering Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, Complex Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Fluid Dynamics, Quantitative Methods in Business, Actuarial Maths, Financial mathematics.

Virender's last completed STEP job with Jason: 1-2 hrs/week - I wish to improve my problem solving skills upto the step exams next year. In the process i hope to also enhance my mathematical analysis and solving skills

Rowan $50-60/hr

Mathematics - University of Cambridge

I've tutored students for the past five years, initially only GCSE and Key Stage 3 mathematics but later including A-Level (and IB) maths (and further maths), first year undergraduate maths (except for pure modules e.g group theory, real analysis, number theory), and also all sciences up to GCSE level. I've covered all exam boards extensively and am very familiar with the individual syllabuses. For the past two years, I have offered specialist tuition to those preparing for entrance exams and interviews for the top universities in the UK, and have had very high success rates getting students into the mathematics degrees at Oxford and Cambridge in particular.

I've consistently tutored for around ten hours per week over this period, and thus have amassed thousands of hours of experience. I've been buoyed by the positive feedback I've received from students and parents, and thus am always eager to take on new students - irrespective of ability level or educational goal.

Rowan's last completed STEP job with Joseph: 1-2 hrs/week - Hi!
I got a conditional offer from Cambridge to study engineering.
However, I need to achieve a 1,2 in STEP II and STEP III coming June.
I'm not in school anymore and need general guidance as to how to approach the preparation, the best method to use, and any tips and tricks to help secure the best mark.
Some online tutoring would also be nice as I'll be leaving the UK mid-February on my gap year.
It would be good if I know before I go, how much time (in hours: 200, 500?) I'll need to invest in preparing STEP, in order to take it into account during my gap year.
I have finished my A levels and achieved A*A*A*A*A.
Any help would be much appreciated, looking for the best person to help me achieve my dream.
Thanks,
~Joe

George $50-60/hr

Mathematics - Cambridge University

I have tutored many students from Primary School level through to Cambridge undergraduates - including preparation for GCSEs, A Levels, STEP, UKMT Maths Challenges and private school entrance exams. My experience with a wide range of ages and abilities (as well as other challenges such as a blind GCSE maths student), have given me a well rounded ability to approach problems from the correct direction for the student, as well as the depth of understanding to adapt to a student's preferred methods.

Many of my tutees have gone on to be very successful in their Mathematics, including 100% scores in UKMT Maths Challenges, and scholarships to high profile schools.

George's last completed STEP job with Jason: 1-2 hrs/week - I wish to improve my problem solving skills upto the step exams next year. In the process i hope to also enhance my mathematical analysis and solving skills
