English Language and Literature - University of Oxford

I am an English Literature graduate from Oxford University. I am passionate about educating young people and ensuring they reach their highest potential. To date I have worked as a private tutor, mentor, workshop facilitator and coach. As a private tutor I have taught English at GCSE and A-Level and have prepared Ox-bridge candidates, most of whom have been offered a place at Oxford or Cambridge. I have worked with Eton and Mactrac Digital Education to deliver the Eton X language programme, specialising in leadership and management skills for young students. In this role I have also interviewed and prepared prospective tutors, ensuring that tutors deliver the best in digital education. I continue to find new ways to encourage students to perform as their most confident selves when faced with an academic challenge or when trying to reach a specified goal, such as entry into a desired college or university. I have a body of experience as a workshop facilitator, including using creative writing and drama to help unlock student’s potential. I do this work on a voluntary basis and have used it to help foster confidence and initiative in young people and adults. My focus is goal orientated whilst maintaining a commitment to a highly individualised approach. This is powerful because the student is met on both an educational and personal level, providing an individual , allowing and em...

I have a Congratulatory First in Modern Languages from Oxford and have been tutoring a range of subjects for the last 9 years. I also have experience of living, working and studying in both France and Germany. Although my style of teaching is friendly and laid-back, I take immense pleasure from academic achievement and from inspiring others to achieve their academic goals.

Isabelle $62/hr

Master of Laws; B.A. in Law - Harvard Law School; University of Oxford

I have been tutoring for over 10 years. I began tutoring IB students in 2010 after graduating with a perfect score (45/45). Since then, my tutoring experience has spanned a wide range of areas. At this point in time, I specialise in tutoring in the following areas:

- Law (Undergraduate Level)
- Law (Postgraduate Level - Master's, LPC, GDL)
- LNAT preparation
- Oxbridge Admissions
- Study skills
- Academic writing and essay skills
- IB French

My teaching methods are highly tailored and results-oriented. Rather than teaching generic subject content, I focus very precisely on what tutors/examiners will be looking for. For example, if you require subject tutoring for an exam, I will recommend that you review past exams as well as examiners' reports to determine which topics are favoured by examiners. Targeting study in this way has been the key to my own academic success and that of my students.

Toby $75-85/hr

History of Technology - University of Oxford

I've worked successfully as a tutor for GCSE and A-Level students for a number of years now, helping them drastically improve their grades. I've also done considerable work as a university supervisor and mentor for undergraduate, master's, and first-year doctoral students at the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, and other institutions. My expertise is in university admissions, and I have recently written a bestselling book on History admissions for Oxford, the Ultimate History Aptitude Test Guide.

My approach is mainly trust based, my students are often amazed by just how much they can do for themselves if they're in a learning environment that isn't adversarial, oppressive, or plain dull. Beyond A-Level, I also have teaching experience at the University of Oxford as a tutor and seminar leader for undergraduate history and sociology students, and I have degrees in both Archaeology and History. My background of experience is technological, and I work as a civilian consultant to the NASA Ames Human Factors laboratory in that capacity. Central to my approach is an understanding that my students are people, with their own unique strengths, weaknesses, and abilities, which need to be nurtured and supported in order to get the best possible results.

In this way, learning can, and should be of a reciprocal exchange of ideas, and by embracing this in a more relaxed and curiosity-driven approach, it becomes far easier for many to explore, absorb, and abstract their understanding of both the surface learning of school qualifications, and the deep learning of the concepts behind them crucial to getting the very highest grades.

Toby's last completed Oxbridge Entrance job with Yasmin: Intensive - I am looking for proofreading and guidance on my personal statement and submitted essays for an Oxbridge Master’s course. I need someone experienced with preferably both postgraduate admissions and humanities subjects: literature, languages, philosophy, or history (Middle Eastern history is a bonus). I am looking for intensive sessions weekday evenings this week and on the weekend. I am looking to have the application submitted by evening Sunday 1st March. Price negotiable depending on experience. Looking forward to hearing your response, many thanks.

Anand $65/hr

PPE - Oxford

Thank you for reading my profile. I have taught A Level and IB Economics, A Level Politics and A Level Business Studies for 16 years and my teaching focuses very much on improving the exam technique of my students. I have been tutoring online for over 6 years. I graduated from Oxford University in 2003 where I studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics and I have been a Head of Economics at top independent schools for 8 years. I have also been a Head of Politics. I am a Qualified Teacher.

Teaching is my passion and I love helping my students to gain confidence in their subjects and to develop their independent thinking skills. My lessons are interactive and I demand a lot from my students because I believe in them. Nothing in my subjects is beyond you, if you are willing to break questions and topics down to their small component parts. I will show you exactly how to do this.

My approach to teaching varies from subject to subject and from pupil to pupil, but I can give you an overview of my general approach now. One of my first goals in classes is to teach my pupils how to understand what an exam question is asking. We do this by breaking questions down, word by word. Next, I provide my pupils with a checklist for how to structure answers so that they can access all of marks available. Then I teach my students how to develop their arguments by asking the questions "why?", "so?" and "how?” in relation to their points, which ensures they provide developed chains of reasoning. Lastly, in every class we revise key concepts and I explain concepts in simple terms using easy to understand examples and I make my students do the same.

Anand's last completed Oxbridge Entrance job with Li: 1-2 hrs/week - Dear Sir/Madam,

I am looking for a tutor to support my son, Kevin, in his preparation for the TSA exam and interview practice. He is planning to apply for Economics & Management at Oxford this year, so it would be useful to have a tutor that specialises in this subject. He has just started doing some preparation so is very new to the TSA structure and would need help especially with the essay questions. He is currently taking Economics, Maths, Further Maths, Sociology for his A-Levels and in year 12, about to start year 13 in September. Please could you let me know if you can cater to this and what the quotes would be?

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Kind Regards,
Li Zhuang
