About Me

I have loved history for as long as I can remember. I began conducting research at the young age of 16 in local archives and soon after I started tutoring in a variety of humanity subjects. For me, research and teaching are two sides of the same coin. Combining both makes me a better historian.

Challenges are the second thing I love the most after history. It is the situations that have pushed me out my comfort zone, such as studying abroad and funding an animal welfare non-profit organization, that have had the greatest impact on my life. For this reason, I try to motivate my students to think outside the box and find their own paths to success.

I am certain that being communicative, transparent, and resilient are essential transferable skills that can take you far in life. Therefore, I encourage my students to express their thoughts openly, be honest about their doubts, and never give in to pressure and self-doubt.

I am fluent in Spanish, Catalan, Italian and English; I love nature and cultural tourism; and I used to play the piano.

Tutor Experience

I have worked as a part-time tutor since 2010 while pursuing my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. I have taught students at various levels, ranging from highschoolers to undergraduates. In addition to teaching history, I have also provided tutoring in English, Spanish, and Humanities. Furthermore, over the last three years, I have assisted A-Level students with their university applications.

I am a new member of Spires teaching team (joined in October 2023). However, to date I estimate that I have conducted approximately 6,000 hours of one-on-one tutorials, both in person and online. I am trained to assist (I)GCSE and A-Level students with exam technique, source analysis, and content comprehension as well as producing a critical piece for their coursework. I also specialize in essay writing skills for undergraduates and postgraduates, and I have experience supervising dissertations.

My teaching methodology is underpinned by the firm believe that learning history entails more than memorizing dates and names. It requires training your mind to connect facts, think critically about how history has been written by other historians, and work out how your personal interests and points of view may contribute to the field.

Topic Expertise

I would define myself as an Early Modern researcher working at the intersection of Material Culture, History of Science, and Cultural History. Previously, I did an M.Phil. in World History, another M.Phil. in Food History, and I specialized in Social Movements during my bachelors degree.

My areas of expertise by training are World History; Early Modern History; Food History; Material Culture; Cultural History, History of Science; Social History.

Besides these subjects, I have taught WW1, WW2, Inter-War international relations; the Cold War; Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany; North America between Independence and Civil War; Postcolonial theory; Modern History of Korea; the Renaissance in global perspective; Early Modern Princely Courts; History of Medicine; The reign of King Alfred the Great; The Crusades; Elisabeth I; France under Louis XIV; the Spanish Empire; and other topics included in history official exams. I always welcome the possibility of teaching new subjects as it gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge.

I do my best to keep up to date with new technological tools for historical research and teaching, and to share them with my students. In 2021, I took an EdX Certified Extension Course from Harvard University on Digital Humanities. and I am enrolled in a course on Academic Editing starting.
