Online History Tutor Andrew

I have taught in a large comprehensive school and sixth form college in North Yorkshire for ten years. As well as classroom teaching, I have served as Head of History, Head of Humanities and Associate Assistant Headteacher for Curriculum Development.

During the Covid pandemic, I fulfilled my teaching, admissions and leadership roles remotely through a full programme of live, interactive teaching, giving me extensive experience of remote teaching and assessment. I have recently begun online tutoring full-time.

The main focus of my teaching has been in history, law and religious studies. I have taught A-level history for two different AQA specifications, teaching units of study on Stuart Britain, Tudor England, interwar Germany and Russia under the Tsars and Communists. I have also supervised independent enquiries for A-level history on a range of subjects. I have taught the history of international relations to GCSE level. I have examined for OCR and AQA, and have been a team leader in examining for Edexcel.
Alongside history teaching, I have taught the full specification for A-level law, including the legal system, criminal law, tort law and contract law. I have taught Christianity and the philosophy of religion for A-level religious studies.
As a sixth form tutor, I have coordinated student applications to Oxford and Cambridge, including leading residential visits to open days, supervising students writing personal statements, preparing students for interviews, conducting mock interviews and preparing students for admissions assessments.
