Creative Writing job with Amelia:
Over 2 hrs/week - Hi,
I am currently writing a story for my creative writing class and it is based on theories of laughter. The theory I'm focusing on is superiority theory, which in a nutshell is when we make a joke out of other's suffering and find it amusing. My aim is to begin the story in this way, but let the ending subvert it the reader expectations.
The story I want to write is based on an urban legend, where villagers have inscribed on their doors 'Nale Ba' (come tomorrow) to ward off an evil witch who wants to kill men. The main outline is that there is a mysogynistic character called Derry, who sees women as sexual objects, not human beings. He gets a kick out of treating them badly. In the end, he invites one of the women he likes home, where during sex he finds out she is actually the witch. Her revenge is that she that she lets him live, but her vagina essentially swallows his penis, emasculating him for life.
I would like help in making my story line stronger, so strenthening the plot line itself, then just writing it up. The limit is 2000 words so its a very short story!
Hope someone can help me out as deadline is very soon!
STELLA's last review in Creative Writing from Amelia: brainstorming Fantastic! Really helped me with understanding a difficult concept and did it with such ease! Great tutor.
I have been a professional tutor since 2006.
Across all of the different subjects I teach, I always notice the same thing: the main difficulty that learners encounter is getting overwhelmed by what they're trying to learn. It could be that there seems to be simply too much material to cover; it could be that the concepts seem too difficult; it could be that the whole thing causes anxiety for some completely different reason which is apparently unrelated to the 'academic' side of things.
I help remove anxiety, regardless of what form it might take, in whatever way seems like it will help each individual most. Before long, it becomes possible to see the task in hand with different eyes – indeed, more importantly, at this point most of my students come to see their own abilities entirely differently. They may have come to me with a fixed idea of what they are 'bad' at, but I help them to realise that they have skills they hardly suspected.

I have tutored GCSE, A-level, Degree and Doctorate-level students on a range of subjects, although my main focus has been Psychology, Sociology, academic writing skills, Business Studies and Research Methods. I have written model essays for exam boards, proofread and edited work to be published, and worked on many dissertations and PhDs with university students.
For Psychology and Sociology, I adopt a systematic approach, and generally like to go over the material thoroughly, testing the student throughout, and spend time on previous exam papers and questions, planning essay answers, discussing how theories relate to real-life situations etc. I sometimes mind-map various themes and ideas with the student, and think outside the box as it were, to make sure that the ideas stem from the student's own work and thinking - so that they can remember it more fully and develop it in future (often students have more knowledge, ideas and insight than they realise, it just needs coaxing out of them!). I often tutor on coursework as well as examination preparation.

Creative Writing job with Christine Rhiannon:
I am wondering if anyone would be interested in giving me some offline written feedback on some poems I have written for my creative writing module? My poems are not marked much on quality as there is a greater focus on the editing process of my poems. So I'd like to get some feedback on how I could change my poems and then I can make some of these changes and then write about these changes within my poetry journal. I'd also be interested in perhaps getting some recommendations for poems/poets (preferably contemporary) who could be relevant to the work I have done (my poems are all about isolation so I am looking for more poets that deal with that theme). That way I can mention them in my writing.
Overall I have 17 poems that I need feedback for and my deadline is in 12 days. So I'd like to find someone that can help me fairly soon, as once I edit my poems I need to then write about the changes within my poem (this will be roughly an extra 4000 words, I might need help when I get to this stage too, though I am not sure yet).
I have 23 years of experience in tutoring learners to achieve their goals. I am a passionate advocate of 'affective' learning and well-being through creativity, critical inquiry and philosophical reasoning. I invite you to engage in these ways of thinking that can empower you with relevant skills to support your personal growth. I have extensive experience in tutoring GCSE, A-Level, CAIE/CIE, IB, PRE-U, EPQ, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Professional learners. My presentation style is engaging and interactive. I convert complicated theories and paradigms into straightforward ideas, with practical worth, and impart useful advice for my clients.
My earliest stint with teaching dates back more than a decade when I helped my mother take private tuition at home. Fast forward to 2017 when I was conducting workshops in my MBA school to help students prepare for their semester exams (in subjects such as Financial Markets, Corporate Finance, etc.). In order for me to be able to explain the subject matter, I need not just be well read. I need to be well spoken as well. I am a voracious reader and a passionate public speaker and have represented my school and college at the national level in different competitions. Brewing my interest in the incessant world of finance, I cleared my CFA Level 1 and 2 and FRM Level 1 exams in the very first attempt and am currently awaiting my FRM charter and preparing for my CFA Level 3 exams simultaneously. I have been a subject matter expert reviewer (Finance) for Study.com wherein I reviewed 2500 questions in a span of 6 months (of which 2499 reviews were correct). Of late, I have been a finance tutor on Chegg USA and have completed 200 odd lessons with a 100% success rate.
