I have 23 years of experience in tutoring learners to achieve their goals. I combine two decades of experience in the education sector with my earlier career in the creative industries to offer engaging learning opportunities relevant to our daily lives. I am a passionate advocate of 'affective' learning and well-being through creativity, critical inquiry and philosophical reasoning. I invite you to engage in these ways of thinking that can empower you with relevant skills to support your personal growth. I have extensive experience in tutoring GCSE, A-Level, CAIE/CIE, IB, PRE-U, EPQ, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Professional learners. My presentation style is engaging and interactive. I convert complicated theories and paradigms into straightforward ideas, with practical worth, and impart useful advice for my clients.
I like to make learning a language an enjoyable experience, whether that be French or English. I believe it should be fun, satisfying, exciting and mainly conversational, alongside the study of grammar, writing and reading. I have the ability to adjust my teaching method in order to suit the learner, as I believe everybody comes at languages from a different angle, some from an aural perspective and others from a more grammatical understanding. It is important for me to understand the learners' approach so I can help them fully immerse in the subject. I believe that languages are a vital skill in this global world today and would love to help you improve and work towards fluency in either French or English. I am happy to teach the basics as-well as the following examinations; IBDP, GCSE, A-level and university level in both languages.
Music tutoring; I tutor Music GCSE and A.S/A-Level, piano grades 1-7, voice (jazz/pop), composition and music theory levels 1-8.
I believe ultimately the study of music should be fun and fulfilling and that the fundamental basics of music (e.g. scales/understanding of harmony & theory/listening skills/analytical skills) are required in order to progress with excellence. Musical examinations are not essential in order to be a great musician, but they do help one improve technique, precision and theory. GCSE and A-level music may well be necessary in order to study music at university level, particularly at music conservatoires. I consider music to be mainly about training the ear and playing with meaning and expression.
I have 14 YEARS of TEACHING EXPERIENCE. This has encompassed ALL AGES (preschool to adults) and abilities (BEGINNER to POSTGRADUATE). Additionally, I have worked in all kinds of SETTINGS at both public & private primary & secondary schools, universities, adult learning centres, cram schools, businesses, within the home (as a residential home school & a private tutor) and online (to students worldwide). In addition, I have served as the Head of English & PBL at a private elementary & junior high school, as the Academic Director of a test prep centre, and have provided educational consultancy & tutor training to Oxford's oldest tutorial college.
I have 10 years of experience working as a Private Tutor in Cheltenham Spa, London, Moscow and internationally. My experience has ranged from working as a Governess and Residential Tutor for UHNW and VVIP families, to working as an outreach tutor for children with SEN and behavioural difficulties, to working overseas with children who have been victims of trauma and conflict.
For the last 5 years, I have continuously been teaching online, and have taught students as young as 5 years of age, right up to experienced business professionals and retired language learners. This experience has taught me vital strategies in engaging students online, built upon an understanding of age, learning style, objectives, technical abilities, personalities and attention span! In every case, I have built a strong positive rapport with clients and have frequently continued to stay in touch with clients or families even after they have passed their exams or succeeded in their objectives.
I am focused and driven; I tutored for Kaplan Test Prep for 20-years serving 10,000 students. My students dominate exams; I am very excited for them and for the opportunities that lay ahead of them!!
Paul's last completed A Level Creative Writing job with Kevin: 1-2 hrs/week - I need a creative writing portfolio with one factual piece and 3 or 4 creative pieces to apply to a hnc course in professional writing.
I have been a professional tutor since 2006.
Across all of the different subjects I teach, I always notice the same thing: the main difficulty that learners encounter is getting overwhelmed by what they're trying to learn. It could be that there seems to be simply too much material to cover; it could be that the concepts seem too difficult; it could be that the whole thing causes anxiety for some completely different reason which is apparently unrelated to the 'academic' side of things.
I help remove anxiety, regardless of what form it might take, in whatever way seems like it will help each individual most. Before long, it becomes possible to see the task in hand with different eyes – indeed, more importantly, at this point most of my students come to see their own abilities entirely differently. They may have come to me with a fixed idea of what they are 'bad' at, but I help them to realise that they have skills they hardly suspected.
I'm a recent History & Spanish graduate from UCL, with over 1500+ hours worth of experience of dedicated one-to-one tuition across multiple subjects and over 60 students. 80% of my students have achieved their first choice school and 90% have reached or achieved beyond their target grades, with the majority achieving As/A*s or 8/9s at GCSE.
If you're a prospective History student, I have expertise in all the main exam boards (AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL, Cambridge iGCSE) and further specialize in coursework assistance. All of my previous students have achieved their target grade or higher, with many achieving 9s and As and A*s at A-Level. I also offer tuition for undergraduate level, particularly for dissertation/coursework assistance, planning and writing.
For Spanish students, I like to take an adaptive approach to tutoring and go at the student's pace. I try to place a lot of emphasis on getting you to practice as much as possible, especially with the speaking and writing components. I know the AQA and Edexcel exam boards inside out and often conduct the official oral exam with my students.
Furthermore, I tutor English all the way up from 7+ to A-Level, but mainly focus on GCSE English Language and Literature and particularly specialize in writing and analysis skills. Have covered majority of the set texts but please specify which texts you're doing if you're looking for help with the Literature exam or coursework.

I have six years' experience teaching at all undergraduate levels at three universities (UCL, University of Sussex, University of Gothenburg).
I've taken a lot of time and care marking essays over the years, so I know what examiners are looking for.
I am especially proud of my record as a dissertation supervisor: 21 of 44 of my Sussex finalists were awarded Firsts last year.
I've designed and convened large modules (40+ students), including third-year dissertation modules, so I know how things work from the inside.
I have an Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Authority (HEA), which is a bit like a teacher training but at university level.
My research background is in modern and contemporary literature, but I have experience teaching a wide range of periods and topics, from medieval poetry to critical theory.
I don't have a particular teaching method: I've given gruelling two-hour lectures and I've held countless hour-long one-on-one tutorials.
So we can take as long as you like going through tricky ideas and stubborn texts, or we can go step-by-step through your essays and dissertations. It's really up to you.
I have been teaching in classrooms and one-to-one settings since 2010. I particularly enjoy the chance to work creatively with individually with students to help them reach their full potential. Most recently, I have been working with university English literature students with their studies in environmental literature, 19th and early 20th century literature and poetry and with their dissertation projects. I have previously helped A-level, GCSE, IGCSE and university students and adult learners to flourish in their academic studies.
