I have extensive experience in the education sector. As an undergraduate, I undertook tutoring work preparing students for Oxbridge entrance. Furthermore, I was employed by a local school as a debating coach, providing intensive one-on-one training as well as more general sessions. My students won one national competition, and reached the finals of several others. I also volunteered with an educational charity, working with local disadvantaged school children. In London I have undertaken tutori...

I have just completed a postgraduate degree (MPhil) at the University of Oxford and also have a BA in History (Honours) from Oxford. I received A*A*A*A at A Level in History, German, Philosophy and Classical Civilisation. While I am relatively new to Spires, I have over 400 hours of experience on other tutoring sites, tutoring a great variety of topics and exam boards. I have received only 5* ratings and reviews for this, both here and on other sites.
The experience that I have gained from obse...

I have been a professional tutor since 2006.
Across all of the different subjects I teach, I always notice the same thing: the main difficulty that learners encounter is getting overwhelmed by what they're trying to learn. It could be that there seems to be simply too much material to cover; it could be that the concepts seem too difficult; it could be that the whole thing causes anxiety for some completely different reason which is apparently unrelated to the 'academic' side of things.

My main tutoring work is in preparing students for the American standardized exams; I have experience with the SAT, SAT-2 (Subject Tests), ACT, GRE, GMAT, ISEE and SSAT. I have helped over 200 students with their exams; of these, more than one-third made successful applications to Ivy League schools or major business schools.
I specialise in Verbal for all tests and have a strong record of helping students accomplish top scores through my own system of strategies, fine-tuned for each individual...

I have taught in schools for over 8 years, and tutored for nearly the same. I have taught pupils from aged 10 to aged 55 in the following subjects: Latin, Classical Civilisation, Classics (degree), Oxbridge entrance, EPQ, History of Art and Art. My approach is based on getting to know a student's strengths and weaknesses and striking a balance between enjoyment and stretch. Each student is different and I tailor my teaching to suit them. I am kind and supportive but equally not afraid to push a ...
