After completing my BA in Arts & Humanities at the University of London's Birkbeck College, I went on to earn my Mlitt in Legal Studies at the University of St Andrews, where I continued to study for my PhD in Medieval History within a Legal History research project. Private tuition has accompanied me along the way.
I have always had a passion for teaching, which began with teaching GCSE French and English to my friend's younger siblings and cousins during my A Levels! I went on to earn a qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and taught in England and Turkey.
Since tutoring humanities, I have developed an approach which focusses on transferable academic skills while keeping a keen eye on the requirements of each unique discipline and the marking rubrics. These are the skills which have enabled my interdisciplinary career and which are empowering in all professional fields.
I have coached one student to top marks in his English Literature A Level, who went on to study English at Oxford. I reignited an A Level Religious Studies student's spark for philosophical questions and raised her grades by two classes. I guided a Cultural Studies dissertation student through her thesis on Reggae Music (2:1) and taught academic research and writing skills to students writing essays in Media History and Medieval History. At St. Andrew's I have taught courses to undergraduate students in methods and approaches in History.
Academic Skills training relevant to university and Oxbridge applications, essays, exams and dissertations in all humanities subjects. I also have specialist knowledge in the history of Law, especially Roman Law, and the History of Late Antiquity (which spans Classics and Medieval History).
