Recent Research Methods Tutor Class Reviews

Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - University
29th April 2024
Excellent. Talking through the coding diagram I created. Beyond Steve's corrections to the graphics in situ, exploring the story within and behind the graphic. Top down? Or inductive? Talking through the small movements towards seeking and finding my external supervisor, and talking through the two that were salient this weekend. Sharing the complexities of data reading and the excitement and possibilities within it together.
Dr. Johan - Mohammed - Research Methods - University
24th April 2024
Dr. Johan is the far best tutor here. I highly recommend him. He is exceptionally talented and skilled, quickly identifying gaps in your research and steering you in the right direction.
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - University
15th April 2024
Excellent session going through the progress/work I have done in the interim on coding the transcripts. Steve talking through my approach with me - inductive or deductive and explaining both. Looking at variations on the inductive approach and what that might look like in detail. Three tasks to. complete by next time - read papers Steve sent during the session, think about the themes further and hone in on them and to prepare for discussion in next session on the theoretical lens(as yet not completed).
Dr Amelia - Camilla- Research Methods - Postgraduate
9th April 2024
Amelia is a fantastic tutor! I had a few sessions and started off knowing so little about research methods. In a short space of time she improved my knowledge hugely and boosted my confidence too! I’m so grateful for her support and would without a doubt recommend her to anyone! Thank you Amelia!

Dr. Johan - Mohammed - Research Methods - University

Outstanding. I wish I could rate Dr. Johan with 10 stars.
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - University
18th March 2024
Excellent session. Exploring where the analysis section of the methods sits in the thesis - in the analysis, methodology or methods. Lots of helpful advice and guidance on the process leading up to the viva and during the viva. For example, when and how the independent reader comes in, who chooses the internal examiner and how the external examiner gets chosen.
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - University
4th March 2024
Updating Dr Steve on the progress of the research conducted. Touching base briefly with the conceptual framework. Spending the remainder of the session exploring the basis and basics of thematic analysis. Dr Steve always follows my rhythm of taking things slowly and in bite sized chunks.
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - University
19th February 2024
Excellent- Steve showed immense patience when I ran through 1) events within my recent research journey with supervisors, the writing, the recruitment and conducting the research proper, and 2) explaining and exploring the meaning of a conceptual framework. The 'holding" he provided helped me get much closer to embodying an understanding of the conceptual/theoretical framework. Brilliant session. Thank you.
Dr Steve - Suzanne- Research Methods - University
5th February 2024
Discussing how a myopic focus on a participant group (a potential one) has left me realising I could broaden my recruitment lens. Talking through how I might recruit further participants and a lead I have who may be able to help. Trying to understand the conceptual framework and acknoledging I somehow seem fixated on it being very abstract and complicated which results it its meaning slipping through my intellectual grasp. Agreeing to simplify this for me together and to 'chip away' at it together.
