Katie $55-65/hr

PhD - UCL

I tutored many students during my PhD, from school leavers wanting lab experience to tutoring fellow PhD candidates in sterile tissue culture techniques. The longest tutoring project I have undertaken was supervising a third year medical student for his intercalated BSc in Physiology. He won the prize for top project in his year (mainly due to his hard work and dedication) and was a joy to teach and really fuelled my interest in nurturing younger minds. More recently I tutored a young man who wanted to take his GCSE a year early; his spoken French was excellent but the writing was letting him down. I identified his weaknesses and we worked on those to raise his grade to an 8 overall.

Katie's last completed Biological Sciences job with Anil: 1-2 hrs/week - Hi
I need to write a dissertation on the use of biofortification of staple foods to tackle micronutrient deficiencies. I need assistance narrowing down the question to address a gap in the research. I also need a clear plan of how to address this gap, including what chapters and topics I need with analysis and conclusions. I have done some background research but need assistance narrowing down content to address a "clear question", as the above topic is too vague/vast. I have attempted this process but need assistance. I would like to focus the main body on biofortification and Vitamin A deficiency. I am a biomedical sciences student so would like it to have more of a biomedical emphasis e.g. using databases like pubmed. Although the project does require me to write about the methods of and future/future applications of biofortification, which I would need extra help with as I don't have experience with plant biology/biotech . Please avoid tutors from Leicester university. Start ASAP , project completion deadline end of June 2020 .

Erin $50-60/hr

Medical Biochemistry - University of Cape Town

I have been a tutor throughout my PhD and I found that it is my patience and willingness to put in the extra hours with students which makes a difference. Often it is something simple that is tripping them up and they need someone to give them confidence and make them feel comfortable to ask questions. There is a lot of pressure in the lecture theatre and the classroom. I like to take that away and give them their own space to think things through.

Erin's last completed Biological Sciences job with David: 1-2 hrs/week - Hi all,

I'm David, and I'm an adult learner looking to further my knowledge across a couple of fields in science. My end goal is to become knowledgeable in Genetics, Nanotechnology, Robotics and Computing. I have looked at a few Nanotechnology and Genetic Engineering courses that I think may be suitable. My aim would be to study primarily remotely as I feel that's how I study most efficiently.

I've placed this advert under Biological Sciences as Genetics and Nanotechnology are both closely related and types of Biological Science (Nanotech not completely, but through DNA). I have achieved this level of Knowledge in Computing. I believe that over he next few months, the structure of my work will change in such a way that it will allow me to study further Higher Education. I would like to study regularly before the, and likely would want to continue tutoring during too.

I have begun reading 2 Genetics textbooks, I own maybe 10.

I think that I would like a solid study plan to work towards. It would be great if the successful tutor could help me achieve this.

Thanks

Erin's last review in Biological Sciences from rehan: Feedback on essays Erin gave lots of useful advice once again. The most modest hardworking tutor I've ever had, highly recommend and incredibly reliable!

Morgan $50-60/hr

PGCE Secondary science,Biochemistry and genetics - University of Nottingham

I did my professional teaching course last year but had to give up teaching after qualifying for a great PhD opportunity. My favourite part of teaching was spending time with small groups and helping them realise they could do things they thought they couldn't.

I predominately taught GCSE and A-level classes In all three of the sciences. I also had to teach quite a lot on maths within the Physics A-level as well as helping out in GCSE maths classes. I really enjoyed teaching the sciences to people who were struggling as it would give rise to the "OH I get it now!" moment that most teachers crave.

Before teaching I studied at the University of Nottingham where I gained my masters in Biochemistry and Genetics. During this course I was lucky enough to study a large variety of topics as well as take part in research projects at the university which gave rise to further works. I thoroughly enjoyed my degree as well as my research which is why I am now studying for my PhD.

Morgan's last completed Biological Sciences job with bonnie: Over 2 hrs/week - i am struggling with content in sensory biology which has some elements of physics, i am struggling with how the eyes and ears of different organisms work. i can email over more documents if needed

Bryce $52/hr

Biochemistry - University of Cambridge

I have experience tutoring students in biology, chemistry, mathematics, English, and history, and have also helped with university admissions.

I have worked in three different paid tutoring positions, both full time and part time. I have worked with groups and one-on-one with private clients, and have experience tutoring online. My clients have ranged in age from 6 to 18 years of age.

Apart from this, I have also worked as a volunteer tutor in less formal arrangements at school and university. These were generally with younger students in the same courses who benefitted from my prior experience of the syllabus.

Bryce's last completed Biological Sciences job with Naomi: 1-2 hrs/week - i need help with my dissertation, i need someone to help with my discussion and conclusion also explain my bar charts. i also would like if you can please help me with an abstract. I would be very happy if you can please review my dissertation , I'm open to changes, my dissertation experiment is very simple because it was done in a rush due to corona virus. I need a good grade for my dissertation in order to progress with my studies and I'm positive that at the moment my dissertation is not good. Also I have to hand in my dissertation on 24th April

Adele $45-55/hr

Postdoctoral Research Fellow - University of Cape Town

I have been tutoring since 2014, working with students in person and remotely, and have supported multiple students through GCSEs, A levels and IB qualifications. Additionally, I have worked as a secondary science teacher, working with learners from 12-18 years of age, supporting their academic studies as well as university applications and interview preparation.
It's important to recognise the links between different science subjects and within the syllabus. I therefore support students in making these links, so that they stop looking at the syllabus as a huge list of facts to learn, but rather as a network into which they can slot new concepts and ideas. This does, however, have to be coupled with exam technique, so I am very pro-active in making sure students have the opportunity to tackle lots of relevant exam questions, improving their confidence and recall.

Adele's last completed Biological Sciences job with Naomi: 1-2 hrs/week - Hi, I have already completed my dissertation but I need help to write an abstract and also explain the results of my experiments (discussion and conclusion) also I would like someone to review my dissertation literature. The dissertation is complete but I feel that needs to be improved, I'm open to changes in my dissertation. The experiment I performed is very simple due to lack of time (coronavirus) I would be very happy if you can please help me with my dissertation.

Louisa $55-65/hr

Qualified Teacher of Science - Experienced GCSE and A Level Science Tutor

I have been a private tutor for over 6 years and hold Qualified Teacher Status with experience teaching in schools in Suffolk and Devon. I was graded 'Outstanding' for my Teacher Training and also have experience working in industrial and research laboratories.

I am experienced in tutoring and teaching GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics tuition and A level Biology and Chemistry. I really like to break-down the difficult topics and train you how to give examiners what they want in your answers. I have worked with a wide range of students of all ages and abilities and the wonderful thing about tutoring is I can adapt it exactly to your specific needs. Having also worked as an exam assessor I know exactly the standard and requirements required to gain the marks!

I LOVE my subject and love discussion in order to further understanding. I think part of my success as a teacher is my enthusiasm and need to have fun. I try to remind my students exactly how exciting science actually is outside of textbooks.

William $50-60/hr

Biological Sciences - University of Oxford

First up, I enjoy the subjects I tutor immensely and I feel this is one of the most important qualities in a good tutor. In addition, I am friendly and confident and have experience of communicating with others in a teaching environment. Coupled with my enthusiasm for the subjects, this will make for a productive and enjoyable learning environment for students. I have extensive tutoring experience, particularly at GCSE and A-levels and have been working with some students for multiple years. Beyond this, I have been asked by my school to return after my first year of university to regularly help prospective Oxbridge students with their personal statements and applications and was an advisor on interview technique.

William's last completed Biological Sciences job with Sarah: Over 2 hrs/week - I need help with chapters 2 - 4 from the Introduction to population genetics book by Nielsen and Slatkin (concepts: genetic drift and mutation, coalescence theory, and population subdivision)
