I am Sian, I was born in Scotland, although living there for only three months doesn't really count! I grew up in Saudi Arabia, then moved to England where I went to school.
I have lived and worked in lots of different countries, including France, Germany, Greece, Australia, South Africa, Trinidad and Cyprus.
I love Formula One and Rugby. I enjoy walking, swimming, reading, doing puzzle books, spending time with family and friends as well as travelling and learning about new places and cultures.
My favourite animals are sharks and cats! I worked with sharks in the UK and in South Africa. And I have 5 pet cats!
I have been tutoring students for fifteen years and I have PGCE(HE) teaching qualification from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
For the last five year I have been successfully supporting international students going to Sheffield University. I have been running support workshops for dental students as well as teaching Biology, Project Skills and Statistics, Academic Lab Skills and Critical reading for undergraduate students, as well as Bioscience, Laboratory Skills and Experimental Design, Critical Reading and Research Proposal for Postgraduate students. I have also taught on a critically acclaimed and award winning module called Prepare for Success which focuses on Learning skills, Life skills and Language Skills. I have a high success rate (>80%) for students attaining their required grades (over 60% for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and over 80% for dental students) and progressing to the University of Sheffield. I have also received positive comments from student feedback over the years.
