First up, I enjoy the subjects I tutor immensely and I feel this is one of the most important qualities in a good tutor. In addition, I am friendly and confident and have experience of communicating with others in a teaching environment. Coupled with my enthusiasm for the subjects, this will make for a productive and enjoyable learning environment for students. I have extensive tutoring experience, particularly at GCSE and A-levels and have been working with some students for multiple years. Beyond this, I have been asked by my school to return after my first year of university to regularly help prospective Oxbridge students with their personal statements and applications and was an advisor on interview technique.
I have worked as a science tutor for the past year and loved every minute. I had the opportunity during my PhD to conduct a placement in Argentina as an English teacher and this is where I honed my teaching skills with all age ranges of students.

I did my professional teaching course last year but had to give up teaching after qualifying for a great PhD opportunity. My favourite part of teaching was spending time with small groups and helping them realise they could do things they thought they couldn't.
I predominately taught GCSE and A-level classes In all three of the sciences. I also had to teach quite a lot on maths within the Physics A-level as well as helping out in GCSE maths classes. I really enjoyed teaching the sciences to people who were struggling as it would give rise to the "OH I get it now!" moment that most teachers crave.
Before teaching I studied at the University of Nottingham where I gained my masters in Biochemistry and Genetics. During this course I was lucky enough to study a large variety of topics as well as take part in research projects at the university which gave rise to further works. I thoroughly enjoyed my degree as well as my research which is why I am now studying for my PhD.
I have tutored in person and online for over 10 years and receive great feedback with my students receiving mostly A*'s and A's. I believe that interacting and stimulation is the key to excellent tutoring.
