My journey in academia has been both diverse and deeply rewarding, filled with moments of discovery and growth. I began in biotechnology engineering but quickly discovered my true passion for chemistry and biochemistry, which led me to earn both a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. in the field.
Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to contribute significantly to the field of chemistry, with over 50 publications and more than 30 research projects in both basic and applied sciences. My teaching philosophy centers around the Socratic Method combined with problem-based learning, which not only instills a strong foundation in chemistry and biology but also hones the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for academic and professional success.
Beyond my professional achievements, I’m passionate about science and artificial intelligence, love diving into history books, enjoy writing diaries, and cherish time spent in the wild. These interests keep me curious and grounded, qualities that I bring into my teaching to inspire and connect with my students on a deeper level.
I’m excited to have recently joined Spires! With over ten years as a dedicated chemistry and biochemistry educator, I am deeply passionate about teaching and committed to helping students unlock their full potential in chemistry, biochemistry and biology. My experience spans both online and in-person tutoring, allowing me to adapt my methods to meet the diverse needs of my students.
Supported by a Ph.D. and extensive research experience, I possess profound knowledge in chemistry, biotechnology, and biochemistry. I have worked on over 50 publications and more than 30 research projects, including innovative applications of simulation and artificial intelligence to life science problems. For instance, I have used machine learning to gain insights into protein functions at its molecular level and 3D structure, demonstrating my dedication to incorporating advanced technology into scientific education.
My teaching approach combines the Socratic Method with problem-based learning, fostering critical thinking and active engagement. I have successfully guided students through complex topics, including fundamental chemistry principles in organic and inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, spectroscopy, and molecular biology concepts, helping them achieve significant improvements in their academic performance. I am ready to help with lab reports too, I have used Python and R for data analysis and statistics. If you struggle with a lab report, I can help with that.
Throughout my career, I worked with numerous students demonstrating marked improvements in their understanding of chemistry, organic chemistry, spectroscopy, molecular biology, biology, and biochemistry, providing customized learning experiences tailored to each student's needs. I am enthusiastic about continuing to support and inspire students as they navigate their studies and pursue their academic goals.
I offer extensive expertise in a broad range of topics within chemistry and biochemistry, supported by a strong academic background and practical research experience. My subject expertise includes:
General Chemistry: Foundations of chemistry, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, and acid-base chemistry.
Organic Chemistry: Structure and bonding, functional groups, reaction mechanisms, synthesis, and spectroscopic methods.
Analytical Chemistry: Techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.
Biochemistry: Enzyme kinetics, metabolic pathways, protein structure and function, and nucleic acids.
Biotechnology: Principles of genetic engineering, molecular biology techniques, and applications in biotechnology.
Biology: cell biology, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, DNA transcription, RNA translation, protein synthesis, biochemical pathways, photosynthesis.
Additionally, I have experience with:
Simulation and Artificial Intelligence in Life Sciences: Utilizing AI and simulation techniques to understand protein function and other life science phenomena.
I am equipped to help students prepare for exams, understand complex concepts, and apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems. Whether you need support with specific topics, preparing for exams, or exploring advanced concepts, I am here to provide tailored guidance to meet your academic needs.
