I have over 6 years of experience in teaching Maths. I have tutored over 80 students and taught 4000+ hours of online lessons with various tuition agencies. Most of the students I have taught have been year 7 - 9, GCSE, A level and Further Maths A level students. I am familiar with the GCSE and A level syllabus for the following exam boards: Edexcel, AQA, OCR, OCR MEI and CIE. I have worked with students who are dyslexic or struggling with Maths and also high-achieving students.

My name is Laurence, I have a PhD in Mathematics from The University of Oxford, where I also attended for undergraduate, completing an MMath integrated masters degree in mathematics.
I have 5 years of tutoring experience and have tutored at several Oxford independent schools alongside privately tutoring many students. I cover secondary school Mathematics, teaching students from the 11 up to the age of 18, covering everything from year 7 Mathematics to Further Mathematics A-Level. I am most experienced in tutoring Mathematics/Further Mathematics A-Level, GCSE and IGCSE.
I additionally offer university entrance exam and preparation, covering the MAT/STEP exams required to study Mathematics at Oxford and Cambridge, respectively. I also offer interview preparation for prospective Oxford and Cambridge mathematics students.
In addition to Mathematics tutoring I also offer tutorials covering introductory and advanced MATLAB, having spent the last 4 years using the software to complete my research.
Laurence's last completed Mathematics job with amy: Intensive - i struggle with everything in maths and i have a year until my gcse
Laurence's last review in Mathematics from James: Circles - Pure Year 1, Chapter 6 Excellent first session, thank you Laurence
Coming from a family of science teachers (Maths and Chemistry) it was my dream to become a Maths teacher since the age of thirteen.I have graduated with a bachelor degree of science from University of Manchester in 1997 and obtained my QTS in 1998. I have been teaching Maths for the last 20 years in schools and colleges and have a big experience on online teaching.
I love Maths and there is no greater pleasure to transfer this to my students. The way I teach a topic varies on each student. I have helped many students get their target grade and I will always aim for my students to get an A. All they need to do is study hard.
KONSTANTINA's last completed Mathematics job with Finn: 1-2 hrs/week - I am struggling with maths, currently in year 13, not having loads of trouble with the new stuff just struggling with some of the year 12 topics. I’m ideally aiming for a B in my a level in June.
KONSTANTINA's last review in Mathematics from Nusrat: past papers Konstantina is best Mathematics teacher a student can. She tutored my daughter in A Levels and she got A and now she is tutoring my son for his IGcse and its helping him a lot . I highly recommend her .
I’ve been working in universities and colleges for 15 years and have over 2 years experience of private teaching (1000+ hours). I’m an expert in linear algebra and elements of probability theory and have a range of experience teaching optimisation theory (including game theory), advanced calculus and complex analysis. I’ve delivered private lectures to A-level, IB maths students and undergraduates from prestigious UK universities. I teach students to learn the crucial concepts of maths more easily through concrete, clear examples. During my tutoring sessions I always reveal connections between different areas of mathematics, which appear highly non-obvious at first. This helps my students to obtain a deeper understanding of the curriculum. I always tailor sessions to the needs and requirements of my students and the main focus is on the practical application of the theorems.
Zoltan's last completed Mathematics job with Milan: 1-2 hrs/week - I need to study all of the Edexcel curriculum, starting from 23rd July.
Zoltan's last review in Mathematics from Rhiannon: Vectors Very good lesson with Zoltan on Vectors, drawings shown clearly as well as explanations
I estimate I have at least 6000 hours of experience, having been a tutor since 2011. I initially started teaching Maths and Physics to Engineering students at University and I gradually expanded into secondary school level tuition. I have worked full time as a tutor since 2012 and during that time I have taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering.
I have taught A Levels, IGCSE/GCSE, IB, Pre-U, AP and I have covered nearly every exam board including Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC. All of my students are seeking to get into top Univeristies.
What makes me a good tutor is my ability to break down a subject and cover it in a particular order so that a student who might not have a good understanding can understand how to progress through the topics. It doesn't hurt that I have a sense of humour and make my lessons actually fun and enjoyable.
Shahid's last completed
Mathematics job with Aishling:
1-2 hrs/week - I have been coasting a B/A grade and plan to achieve an A*, however, it is nearly the end of February and due to teaching circumstances I am yet to complete 7 chapters of calculus. Some accelerated tutoring and revision help would be great. I need support in order to cover and master the content on time.
Specifically, I would like to cover chapters 9-15 of the (OCR A) A Level Year 2 content before Easter and hopefully have some revision sessions of mechanics and interpreting statistics questions (ie the large data set) after that. I'll attach a photo of the table of contents below.
For context, I achieved a grade of A (70%) overall in my Year 13 mocks- 65% in Pure and Statistics, and 77% in Pure and Mechanics. I am currently struggling with proofs.
My goal is to achieve well above 90% in all three papers.
Shahid's last review in Mathematics from Suzy: Introductory meeting I don’t usually like maths classes but this one was very enjoyable. Shahid was very patient and helped guide me through the questions so that I can get to the answers myself instead of telling me and I found this very useful. The recording of the lesson is not available though.
I cover all levels of Mathematics from primary school all the way to SATs, GMAT and degree level . I focus particularly on A level and GCSE teaching all relevant modules including Stats, Core and Mechanics. I have a proven track record coaching students for AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards. I am always patient and encouraging and know how to get the best out my students. I enjoy making tricky concepts easy to understand by using everyday examples. There is no substitute for practice and I will set numerous problems to be completed before the next lesson. This is the only way to be sure topics are sinking in. I always emphasise full understanding of problems not just simply learning methods.
I provide intensive exam preparation and my pupils have frequently achieved top grades. My students are normally referred to me from other satisfied pupils and I tend to get very busy. However I am taking on new students at the moment and do have some availability.
Toby's last completed Mathematics job with Hadleigh: 1-2 hrs/week -
Toby's last review in Mathematics from Molly: Tutor missed the class.
I have worked for Spires for 5 years and have considerable experience tutoring young adults. In my teenage years, I coached children's rugby and tutored voluntarily. When I joined Oxford University in 2014 I began to tutor professionally.
I stand out as an A-Level tutor due to my experience at identifying how young adults think and learn - especially when they are confused or distressed - and tailoring my approach accordingly. My aim is to instil calmness and to build confidence by getting to know my students and addressing their underlying learning issues. This helps them quickly develop a foundation upon which they can independently build a deep and durable understanding.
Miscommunication can often be a substantial learning barrier with Maths and Science, and not everyone clicks with their teacher. This is where I would love to provide a helping hand.
Samuel's last completed Mathematics job with jordan: -
Samuel's last review in Mathematics from Jacob: Mechanics Cont. Good class- continued to work on mechanics and was very clear and concise
I am a volunteer for a number of organisations which aim to help disadvantaged students reach university and have tutored a number of students to success in their exams so I have a lot of experience of working with young people and helping them to reach their potential. I am happy to help as a subject specific tutor for GCSE or A-Level, or help students through the sometimes daunting university application process and admissions tests.
About my tutorials:
Sessions are always student-led. I plan tutorials which reflect the student's level of understanding, giving access to notes, including suggested exam questions, which the student can add to during the tutorial, or use as a memory-aid following the tutorial.
I have received lots of positive feedback about this approach.
I can also help students through questions or tasks which they bring, and the best tutorials involve this collaborative input.
The pace of sessions is determined by the student, and I am happy to go through any topic with a number of different approaches until we find one which the student finds helpful.
Chloe's last completed Mathematics job with Elaine: 1-2 hrs/week - I need a maths tutor for my son who is in year 9. He requires ongoing support in all areas of maths.

I teach A-level maths and further maths, GCSE, iGCSE, OCR FSMQ, the QTS Numeracy test and STEP Assignments.
I have been a professional tutor for over 30 years and have taught online for 7 years. I have helped to improve the results and confidence of many different types of students. Often I have been asked to tutor younger siblings and get new students via recommendations.
For the further maths A level I can assist with CP1, CP2, FM1 and FP1.
Lindsay's last completed Mathematics job with sean: Occasional - OCR A2 Mathematics A, need help on revising, not good at integration and differentiation , might also need slight revision on previous chapters
Lindsay's last review in Mathematics from Salim: Questions from worksheet Really nice teacher. :)
I believe that a good tutor combines teaching and mentoring in a way that encourages students to use their own thinking and ability, set their own ‘agenda’, ask questions and then works with them to improve their self- confidence and ability in the subject.
I have degrees in Mathematics, Statistics and Teaching, and have taught Mathematics and Statistics at Advanced, Foundation and University levels to a variety of students.
I teach A-level Maths and Statistics at school and also tutor students studying for AS, A2, IB exams under various boards (OCR, CIE, Edexcel, AQA, MAT/STEP, GRE). Topics covered have been in Core Maths, Further Maths and Statistics.
I have taught courses in Maths and Statistics at Universities. Also I have tutored University level students on topics covering Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, Complex Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Fluid Dynamics, Quantitative Methods in Business, Actuarial Maths, Financial mathematics.
Virender's last completed Mathematics job with Finn : 1-2 hrs/week - Struggling with everything in general Exams start 20/05/19
Virender's last review in Mathematics from Charles: Initial lesson - we can cover a topic e.g. coordinate geometry, and discuss your requirements. It took a while for my daughter to get used to the technology but she got very satisfied when she got the hang of it.
