I have tutored numerous students towards helping them achieve their ideal exam score. I take a kind and caring approach to tutoring that allow my students to wonder about the question and tricks to solve it. The goal is to make them enjoy mathematics and improve exam scores at the same time.

GMAT from theobald:
** Matthew helped me with the mathematical part of the GMAT. He was a very good tutor in helping me gain a good understanding of what was needed to be done. He also has a large range of practise questions with answers which was a great help for doing individual work. Furthermore he provided me with a booklet he made himself with all the the formulas one would need for the GMAT which was a great help when working on my own in understanding the maths. Would highly recommend.

I am focused and driven; I tutored for Kaplan Test Prep for 20-years serving 10,000 students. My students dominate exams; I am very excited for them and for the opportunities that lay ahead of them!!

I have a lot of patience and ensure that the student understands the concept thoroughly before moving further. I follow a Socratic and Engagement method of teaching.

My greatest skill is in teaching the student any concept in the most logical and the most easily understandable way.

Professional Experience

In regard to the aforementioned teaching role at Kaplan International College London: This role includes teaching Pre-Master’s students Statistics, Physics, and Mathematics. I am currently the Pre-Master's Advanced Statistics Module (PM608) coordinator.

Apart from the previous role, I am a part-time Private Tutor in Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics. A large part of my work is related to University Level tuition but also the last two grades of High School (exam preparation).

From my placements in UK and Australia, I have extensive experience and knowledge in teaching 1st and 2nd-year Physics courses, such as Classical Mechanics, Classical Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, Calculus, Statistics as well as more advanced 3rd and 4th-year subjects, such as Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Field Theory, Optics & Lasers, Particle Physics, Special and General Relativity, etc.

Moreover, I have taught various topics in University Level mathematics, such as Calculus, Advanced/Multivariable Calculus, Algebra, Complex Analysis, Group Theory, Differential Geometry, Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics, etc.

Furthermore, I have experience in the UK schooling system and currently work with a number of London based tutoring offices, teaching Physics and Mathematics for GCSE/iGCSE and A-Levels (AQA, CCEA, OCR, WJEC ).

I also have experience in the USA College/Universities Admission tests, such as the GRE Subject Tests (Physics and Mathematics) preparation as well as SAT and GMAT (Math/Quantitative/Analytic sections). From my placements in the USA, I have extensive experience in AP Physics and AP Calculus/Maths.

Over the past 15 years, I have been helping students with their studies in Economics, Finance, Statistics, and other Business-related subjects, primarily at the university level. GMAT job with Charles:
** 1-2 hrs/week - I took the GMAT once and got a 400. Did worse on the Quantitative section. Need to boost score by at least 80 to get into grad school. Have 6 weeks till I take it again. Available Monday and Wednesday afternoons

- Have been working as a tutor for more than three years now, focusing on highschool and university maths, coding mostly in Python, as well as test prep

- Former year 10-12 mathematics teacher at Hangzhou Dongfang Highschool, China (Queensland curriculum of Australia)

I have tutored students online for over 3000 hours and helped over 400 students in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering and Chemistry subjects. I have previously been recognised by ESTYN as an outstanding teacher and won best online tutor for two years with a major tutoring company.

I have been tutoring students Physics, Mathematics, Engineering and Chemistry for over 30 years. I have a wealth of experience getting the best from students at all levels. I have taught Science at Key Stage 3; Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at GCSE and IGCSE level; Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at IB level; Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A level; tutored numerous students for 13+, 16+, MAT, NSAA and STEP examinations; tutored modules for undergraduate physics, mathematics and engineering; assisted students for both Master and Doctoral postgraduate degrees.

All of my students obtain excellent grades as I tutor in a way that gets the best from every student. In the latest set of examinations all of my students obtained places after independent schools examinations; at GCSE my students obtained level 9 (4 students); at A level my students obtained A* grades (7 students) and 1 student obtained a B grade; at undergraduate my students obtained a first in their modules (3 students); at postgraduate my Master student obtained a first for her dissertation.

I have been a professional tutor since 2006.

Across all of the different subjects I teach, I always notice the same thing: the main difficulty that learners encounter is getting overwhelmed by what they're trying to learn. It could be that there seems to be simply too much material to cover; it could be that the concepts seem too difficult; it could be that the whole thing causes anxiety for some completely different reason which is apparently unrelated to the 'academic' side of things.

I help remove anxiety, regardless of what form it might take, in whatever way seems like it will help each individual most. Before long, it becomes possible to see the task in hand with different eyes – indeed, more importantly, at this point most of my students come to see their own abilities entirely differently. They may have come to me with a fixed idea of what they are 'bad' at, but I help them to realise that they have skills they hardly suspected.
