I am a professional tutor who graduated from Cambridge with a 1st class BA degree and an MPhil in Education and Literature - I have been tutoring ever since.
I tailor my tutoring to best fit my student's needs and learning style. With extensive experience ranging from primary to undergraduate students, I am confident tutoring for students of different ability and interest levels.
As a published academic writer with experience of private school and Oxbridge admissions processes, I am further confident tutoring to an extremely high level of tuition for a number of top-level schools and universities. Past students have gone on to study at Harrow, Eton, a number of London private schools and of course Oxford and Cambridge, among other universities.
My successes with students are not only due to my own expertise, however, but to my passion for inspiring a love of English in my students as well! During our time together my students not only come to feel more confident in the subject, but also to enjoy it!
Kate's last completed IGCSE job with Aoife : Occasional - I would like to have some tutoring over the summer to get ahead in English Literature as I start my year 10 next September 2019.
I've worked successfully as a tutor for GCSE and A-Level students for a number of years now, helping them drastically improve their grades. I've also done considerable work as a university supervisor and mentor for undergraduate, master's, and first-year doctoral students at the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, and other institutions. My approach is mainly trust based, my students are often amazed by just how much they can do for themselves if they're in a learning environment that isn't adversarial, oppressive, or plain dull. Beyond A-Level, I also have teaching experience at the University of Oxford as a tutor and seminar leader for undergraduate history and sociology students, and I have degrees in both Archaeology and History. My background of experience is technological, and I work as a civilian consultant to the NASA Ames Human Factors laboratory in that capacity. Central to my approach is an understanding that my students are people, with their own unique strengths, weaknesses, and abilities, which need to be nurtured and supported in order to get the best possible results.
In this way, learning can, and should be of a reciprocal exchange of ideas, and by embracing this in a more relaxed and curiosity-driven approach, it becomes far easier for many to explore, absorb, and abstract their understanding of both the surface learning of school qualifications, and the deep learning of the concepts behind them crucial to getting the very highest grades.

My name is Andrew Laming an experienced teacher of Geography from the UK.
I have been a teacher of Geography since 2003 and have worked in many successful secondary schools. I have been a Head of Geography in two schools for a period of 7 years. I have taught in a range of different schools from state to girls grammar and an independent school.
I have been an online tutor since September 2016 and am also a face to face tutor as well. I have taught many students and do specialize in A Level. I have also tutored students from Marlborough College, Godolphin School and Mount Kelly School, all prestigious independent schools and have enabled the students to achieve very high grades.

I have been for several years an expert examiner for Edexcel for GCSE and A Level Geography. This has given me an inside knowledge as to what exam boards expect and look for in the answers of students.
Andrew's last completed IGCSE job with Juskaran : 1-2 hrs/week - My son is sitting igcse geography Edexcel in June 2019. I would like him to get the top grade. He is struggling with exam technique and answering questions to secure necessary marks to hit the top grades.
Andrew's last review in IGCSE from Juskaran : very good and informative
I recently received my PhD in History at King’s College London. Whilst I would consider myself a historian of modern British, social and cultural history, during my studies at BA, MA and doctorate level I have also acquired expertise in an array of diverse historical eras and themes. I also taught history undergraduate seminars at KCL on various modules including Early Modern Europe, Modern Britain, and History and Memory. During my years teaching history at KCL, I taught hundreds of students of varying abilities and I really enjoyed helping develop their historical learning and sharing my passion for history whilst nurturing theirs. My tutoring sessions are tailored towards the specific needs and goals of my students. Whether these are improving grades, keeping on top of homework, preparation for coursework and exams, or simply needing an explanation of specific concepts, I’m here to provide a session that meets your requirements. I will identify both short and long term issues the student may have with their courses, and establish solutions and goals for solving them. History learning can often be typecast as a monotonous process of memorising dates, speeches and battles, and I want to encourage my students to adopt different ways of thinking about history that encourage critical analysis and varying interpretations of the past.

For the past ten years, I have provided private tuition to students of a variety of ages and abilities. This has ranged from primary Maths to A Level Biology. I have helped students to prepare for exams with a number of examboards including Edexcel, AQA, WJEC and OCR.
I have been working for the past seven years as a teacher in a private girls’ school teaching Biology to A Level, Chemistry to GCSE and some KS3 Maths. I have developed an expert knowledge of Edexcel IGCSE Biology, as well as Edexcel AS and A Level Biology A. I am extremely passionate about my job and get a real thrill from seeing my students make progress. Both times I have taught a top division at GCSE, they have all achieved top grades. The Biology department has excellent value-added at A Level.
Last year, I also worked as an Assessment Specialist, marking IGCSE papers for Cambridge Assessment. This gave me a real insight into what examiners are looking for and made me more aware of common mistakes that students make. This will help me to prepare students even more thoroughly for their exams.
