I am an English Literature graduate from Oxford University. I am passionate about educating young people and ensuring they reach their highest potential. To date I have worked as a private tutor, mentor, workshop facilitator and coach. As a private tutor I have taught English at GCSE and A-Level and have prepared Ox-bridge candidates, most of whom have been offered a place at Oxford or Cambridge. I have worked with Eton and Mactrac Digital Education to deliver the Eton X language programme, specialising in leadership and management skills for young students. In this role I have also interviewed and prepared prospective tutors, ensuring that tutors deliver the best in digital education. I continue to find new ways to encourage students to perform as their most confident selves when faced with an academic challenge or when trying to reach a specified goal, such as entry into a desired college or university. I have a body of experience as a workshop facilitator, including using creative writing and drama to help unlock student’s potential. I do this work on a voluntary basis and have used it to help foster confidence and initiative in young people and adults. My focus is goal orientated whilst maintaining a commitment to a highly individualised approach. This is powerful because the student is met on both an educational and personal level, providing an individual , allowing and em...

job with Anne:
Intensive - My 13 year old son is preparing for a major entrance exam to the academically challenging "Gymnasium" secondary school here in Switzerland. My husband and I grew up in the UK and speak limited French. Our son has 10 days this summer when he would like to do an intensive session each day to use his spoken French and written French. This 10 days runs 13.07-24.07.
Ideally he'd like to work with a young person who shares his liking for sports and can be a bit of a breath of fresh air compared to standard school. Ideally a guy, but not critical. If sessions could be reasonably early in the morning he could combine his French mornings with a summer sports camp locally. Intense work and then time to get outside!
Then after the 18th August work with a French tutor would continue, with sessions once or twice a week, ideally after school at 16:00.
This could be the same tutor or a different tutor, so please get in touch for either or both these periods. Many thanks!
Ella 's last review in GCSE from ibraheem: English Great session of Eng. Lng.
I specialise in teaching GCSE (AQA) and IGCSE (Edexcel) Biology and Chemistry. I am familiar with the requirements of the different exam boards, and can tailor my teaching specifically to your needs. Homework is set online each week to consolidate understanding, and to gain practice with answering exam-style questions.
Throughout my medical degree, I have successfully helped prospective university students and medical students with their application process, including personal statement review, interview preparation (panel interviews, multiple mini-interviews, Oxbridge interviews) and UKCAT/BMAT revision.
Elizabeth's last completed GCSE job with Helen: 1-2 hrs/week - I am looking for a tutor to help my son in the run up to his IGCSE Chemistry exam this May. He says that he really doesn't understand Electrolysis at all. And would like help with the syllabus generally to strengthen his knowledge and its application.
I am a specialist Computer Science tutor/teacher with more than 20 years experience of private tutoring and teaching class based students. I hold a Degree and Masters Degree in Computer Science. I'm fully conversant with all exam board specifications including AQA, OCR, WJEC, EdExcel, IGCSE, Cambridge International, etc.
The subject I teach is my hobby. I have extensive experience of providing online tuition to students all around the UK, Europe and as far as Hong Kong.
Connecting and having a rapport with the student is key. I have two aims, one is to teach the topic within the specification. The other, more important, is to develop the student's confidence.
In addition, I am a full member of The Tutors Association. This is a professional body that ensures best practices and ethics by members.
Myles's last completed GCSE job with Ang: 1-2 hrs/week - AQA paper 1 and 2
Myles's last review in GCSE from Helen: CS Great tutor, pleasure working with him
I'm a postgraduate at The University of Oxford, and already hold a Congratulatory First in German (BA) with the best results of the 200 students in the Languages department, as well as the highest grades in Arts subjects at my college.
I also have over four years of tutoring experience, from primary through to GCSE, A Level, and undergraduate. It's a consistent delight to celebrate tutees' successes - be it getting to grips with a thorny bit of grammar, having a 'eureka!' moment with a tricky piece of literature, or passing exams with flying colours.
There can be no one-size-fits-all formula when it comes to a tutoring session. Every tutee has different likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, and will progress at an individual pace. I can help with anything from oral presentations and spoken fluency, to essays, literature, and grammar (having personally tried all the tips and tricks!).
Daniella's last completed GCSE job with Gaya: 1-2 hrs/week -

My name is Andrew Laming an experienced teacher of Geography from the UK.
I have been a teacher of Geography since 2003 and have worked in many successful secondary schools. I have been a Head of Geography in two schools for a period of 7 years. I have taught in a range of different schools from state to girls grammar and an independent school.
I have been an online tutor since September 2016 and am also a face to face tutor as well. I have taught many students and do specialize in A Level. I have also tutored students from Marlborough College, Godolphin School and Mount Kelly School, all prestigious independent schools and have enabled the students to achieve very high grades.
I tutor GCSE Geography and History and A Level Geography and History, and have taught all the main examination boards in my sessions: AQA, Cambridge igcse, Edexcel, OCR & Wjec Eduqas.
I have been for several years an expert examiner for Edexcel for GCSE and A Level Geography. This has given me an inside knowledge as to what exam boards expect and look for in the answers of students.
Andrew's last completed GCSE job with Clare: 1-2 hrs/week - I’m in year 10 and I’m taking my GCSE in May. I’m studying the WJEC syllabus and I got a level 5 in my mock. I would like to improve on this grade
Andrew's last review in GCSE from Kamla: Introductory chat and trial lesson. She was doing Edexcel, Cold War, Weimar Germany, Crime & Punishment throughout Time and Richard & John. We hope that we can book the same for her in May/June 2019. Friendly, professional and informative introduction (not a lesson).
My approach to tutoring is get the student interested in the subject they are studying, as learning about something you're interested in makes all the content more accessible.
All the content taught in the lesson will be from your school's exam board. The lessons will be based on the content you need for your exams, as well as developing strategies and skills to answer exam questions.
I will be able to provide all material for the tutoring sessions.
Blake's last completed GCSE job with Akanksha: 1-2 hrs/week - I am in year 10 and would like a tutor for years 10 and 11, I would like to achieve grade 9 in single science.
Blake's last review in GCSE from Abi: All the lessons my daughter has had with Blake has been thoroughly enjoyed by her. Sciences have often been a challenge and now she actually says she understands the topics they have covered thus far. I think Blake should be commended on producing a new science convert.
I have three years’ experience tutoring the humanities in person and online. I have an excellent track record of preparing students for English and History to GCSE, IB, and A-Level.
In Summer 2016, I helped a student go from a D to an A in A-Level History resits. The previous year, one of my students went from a U-grade mock to a B in GCSE English in the space of 6 weeks.
In addition to my BA in History from the University of Cambridge (2013), I hold an MA by Research in History and Music from Durham University (2015, AHRC Scholarship).
Elizabeth's last completed GCSE job with Maria: 2_HOURS - Teach and prepare homeschooled student for IGCSE examinations in january. Lives in bali,Indonesia.
I estimate I have at least 6000 hours of experience, having been a tutor since 2011. I initially started teaching Maths and Physics to Engineering students at University and I gradually expanded into secondary school level tuition. I have worked full time as a tutor since 2012 and during that time I have taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering.
I have taught A Levels, IGCSE/GCSE, IB, Pre-U, AP and I have covered nearly every exam board including Edexcel, OCR, AQA, WJEC. All of my students are seeking to get into top Univeristies.
What makes me a good tutor is my ability to break down a subject and cover it in a particular order so that a student who might not have a good understanding can understand how to progress through the topics. It doesn't hurt that I have a sense of humour and make my lessons actually fun and enjoyable.
Shahid's last completed GCSE job with Kasia: Occasional - Nimo (15) requires GCSE/A-Level Physics tuition
Shahid's last review in GCSE from Kasia: I have an extra time as a student has taken an earlier class, 4:30pm UK time is fine Great!
I'm currently working as a foreign language teacher for the British Council in China though I've been a private tutor now for a nearly two years - in this time I've tutored a student in both his GCSEs and AS Levels, on average increasing his grades from C to A. I have also provided tuition for other children in younger years, giving them foundational bases in English and Mathematics. These jobs were done in person as well as online, via Skype. Aside from my direct tuition experience, I have two younger brothers who often ask for help with their school work. I think that if you can deal with- and teach effectively - your own siblings, you can take on any type of person! My time at Cambridge involved high intensity of work and as such, I am used to working quickly and efficiently, developing the best possible ways to achieve the task at hand.
My focus with my tuition is not the idea of teaching being a means to an end, but rather my aim is to actually interest my tutees in the process of learning. It is when students turn up and ask me questions that I struggle to answer that really excites me - I want to promote this intellectual curiosity and be far more than someone who my student has to see every week in order to get their A*.
Gabriel's last completed GCSE job with Eden: Occasional - I am really struggling with how to write English literature essays I've been stuck on 3s this whole year and I really struggle with Macbeth Christmas Carol Inspector Calls and poetry.
I have been teaching KS3 Science, GCSE Chemistry and A-Level Chemistry to over 150 students since August 2017. I also run an introductory undergraduate chemistry club for those interested in pursuing chemistry to degree level, the aptly named ‘Geek Club’.
I have 200 hours of tutoring experience including over 100 hours tutoring online with Spires.
I graduated with a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Oxford, which included achieving distinction in quantum chemistry and a Masters thesis on chemical education presented at the Variety in Chemistry Education (VICE) conference. Central to my project is understanding how people learn, and identifying common misconceptions that students have prior to encountering a new topic. Developing this foundation in educational theory has undoubtedly improved the way I teach, and I do my best to continue adapting my techniques as I read new literature.
Tom's last completed GCSE job with Mariam: 2_HOURS - I need to get an A or A*
