Ella $85-95/hr

English Language and Literature - University of Oxford

I am an English Literature graduate from Oxford University. I am passionate about educating young people and ensuring they reach their highest potential. To date I have worked as a private tutor, mentor, workshop facilitator and coach. As a private tutor I have taught English at GCSE and A-Level and have prepared Ox-bridge candidates, most of whom have been offered a place at Oxford or Cambridge. I have worked with Eton and Mactrac Digital Education to deliver the Eton X language programme, specialising in leadership and management skills for young students. In this role I have also interviewed and prepared prospective tutors, ensuring that tutors deliver the best in digital education. I continue to find new ways to encourage students to perform as their most confident selves when faced with an academic challenge or when trying to reach a specified goal, such as entry into a desired college or university. I have a body of experience as a workshop facilitator, including using creative writing and drama to help unlock student’s potential. I do this work on a voluntary basis and have used it to help foster confidence and initiative in young people and adults. My focus is goal orientated whilst maintaining a commitment to a highly individualised approach. This is powerful because the student is met on both an educational and personal level, providing an individual , allowing and em...

Myles $85-95/hr

Computer Science BSc MSc - Staffordshire

I am a specialist Computer Science tutor/teacher with more than 20 years experience of private tutoring and teaching class based students. I hold a Degree and Masters Degree in Computer Science. I'm fully conversant with all exam board specifications including AQA, OCR, WJEC, EdExcel, IGCSE, Cambridge International, etc.

The subject I teach is my hobby. I have extensive experience of providing online tuition to students all around the UK, Europe and as far as Hong Kong.

Connecting and having a rapport with the student is key. I have two aims, one is to teach the topic within the specification. The other, more important, is to develop the student's confidence.

In addition, I am a full member of The Tutors Association. This is a professional body that ensures best practices and ethics by members.

Myles's last completed GCSE job with Ann: 1-2 hrs/week - Ollie is in Y10 - doing quite well. Predicted at this point to be working at a 6 or above
I want him to do as well as he can
This year they have focused on theory.
He started it in Y10 never having done it before
I am concerned with school closures that he keeps up
I was recommended to this site by a friend - their tutor they say is very good
I believe he will do IGCSE next year
I am interested to start now and continue through to GCSE next year 2021

Myles's last review in GCSE from Louise: We have done some work with Myles to identify whether our son has the ability to successfully undertake independent study for GCSE Computer Science. We found Myles to be hugely approachable, skilled and transparent. Our experience with him was professional and reassuring and our son's confidence increased recognisably after just one lesson. On the basis of our interaction with Myles to date, I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Andrew $40-50/hr

BA Geography - University of Leicester

My name is Andrew Laming an experienced teacher of Geography from the UK.

I have been a teacher of Geography since 2003 and have worked in many successful secondary schools. I have been a Head of Geography in two schools for a period of 7 years. I have taught in a range of different schools from state to girls grammar and an independent school.

I have been an online tutor since September 2016 and am also a face to face tutor as well. I have taught many students and do specialise in A Level. I have also tutored students from many prestigious independent schools such as Marlborough College, Charter House, Godolphin School and Mount Kelly School and have enabled the students to achieve very high grades.

I tutor GCSE Geography and History and A Level Geography and History, and have taught all the main examination boards in my sessions: AQA, Cambridge igcse, Edexcel, OCR & Wjec Eduqas.
I have experience of tutoring international students and have taught students in Athens, Bahrain, California, Dubai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Kuwait.

I have been for several years an expert examiner for Edexcel for GCSE and A Level Geography. This has given me an inside knowledge as to what exam boards expect and look for in the answers of students.

I strive to get the best results as possible for my students and will always follow the exam board specification used by my students and this enables them to be as successful as possible.

Andrew's last completed GCSE job with Haniah: 1-2 hrs/week - I am struggling with the content, I am on AQA, in year 10 and I'm expecting 6-7's but would like 8-9's

Daniella $40-50/hr

German - University of Oxford

I'm a postgraduate at The University of Oxford, and already hold a Congratulatory First in German (BA) with the best results of the 200 students in the Languages department, as well as the highest grades in Arts subjects at my college.

I also have over four years of tutoring experience, from primary through to GCSE, A Level, and undergraduate. It's a consistent delight to celebrate tutees' successes - be it getting to grips with a thorny bit of grammar, having a 'eureka!' moment with a tricky piece of literature, or passing exams with flying colours.

There can be no one-size-fits-all formula when it comes to a tutoring session. Every tutee has different likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, and will progress at an individual pace. I can help with anything from oral presentations and spoken fluency, to essays, literature, and grammar (having personally tried all the tips and tricks!).

Daniella's last completed GCSE job with Gaya: 1-2 hrs/week -

Daniella's last review in GCSE from Naomi: It was great - very helpful to see the worksheets through the screen.

Luke $50-60/hr

Education with Mathematics Teaching - Bath University

Firstly, it is crucial with exam based subjects that a tutee should target qualified teachers (with QTS) as they have conversed with the current changes that have taken place with GCSE and A-Levels. They are aware of syllabus amendments and have a range of tools to support how to interpret command verbs within the exam.

I am a qualified teacher (with QTS) that has over 10 years leading several departments in Computing, Business, ICT and Design across a range of qualifications and exam boards. As a result of this and exam board work (working as an exam marker), I feel I understand what is required to pass the exams.

The exam board experience stems over a range of exam boards (OCR, Pearsons, AQA and CIE) completing a variety of roles, from verifying coursework to exam marking and leading exam markers.

Both teaching and exam board commitments compliment each other, seeing the teaching misconceptions and to get the exam marks, with great success in my teaching.

I have a good understanding of assessment needs to qualify for the higher Level questions in exam papers which have proven successful (primarily focusing on the command verbs in the question) which can be a focus within the online lessons.

Luke's last completed GCSE job with Suzy: 1-2 hrs/week - I’m looking for a CS tutor for my son who’s currently in Yr 10. He loves CS and he’s pretty good at it (he created a terrain-navigation AI for his DofE and Ioves coding all sorts). However most of this is self taught and unfortunately the quality of teaching of the actual GCSE Edexcel CS curriculum at his school is very lacking. We are worried he will not have the knowledge and skills needed to do well in his actual exams. We’d like someone to work with him to assess what level he’s currently at, to identify the gaps and to ensure he’s taught the syllabus properly.

Luke's last review in GCSE from Suzy: GCSE Computer Science (Edexcel) Class was brilliant, really helped to fill in the missing bits of info and to cement prev knowledge. :)

Henriette $40-50/hr

Classics (1st) - University of Oxford

Over the past two years I have tutored students regularly in Latin, Ancient Greek, Classics, English Literature and Essay writing. I am familiar with the OCR syllabuses for Latin, Greek and Classics both at GCSE and A-level, and have developed my own resources designed to tackle set texts, unseen passages, translation from English into Latin/Greek and to reach the required level of grammatical understanding. I have also tutored a pupil for Latin IB, including the research dossier. During university, I took up Latin and Ancient Greek from scratch, so I can vividly understand the frustrations and difficulties which arise when learning Ancient languages. This has made me explore alternative methods of learning vocabulary and improving grammar through texts, rather than tables.

I have tutored pupils who need to gain top grades to take up their Oxbridge offers, and pupils struggling at school in need of extra support. As such, I develop my resources and teaching methods depending on the individual needs, aims and interests of the students. I am able to provide exam-style passages, vocabulary tests and writing tasks if desired.

During my final year of University, I volunteered in a local primary school on a programme called 'Literacy through Latin', teaching latin to a group of year six pupils, particularly those eligible for pupil premium. The project aims to use Latin to improve literacy, and so I developed latin games, exercises and creative projects. For this project I received training from the Kings College London education department.

In addition to these regular students, I have tutored pupils for competition essays, including those for the St John's College Oxford prize and the Mary Renault Prize, encouraging high-achieving pupils to think creatively and write fluently. I also have experience tutoring a mature graduate Psychology student in essay writing skills, helping them to improve their writing style ahead of a final dissertation.

Kathrine $40-50/hr

Animal Science and English Literature - Canterbury Christ Church

I have been tutoring online and 1-1 for 3 years now. I offer a range of styles in my teaching that allows the student to get involved with the lesson. This may include: labeling diagrams, creating a flow chart, completing a graph, correcting mistakes in a method e.t.c.

I have recently become an online tutor full time. This is giving me more time to make outstanding lessons for my 1-1 students. I can spend more time making sure that each student is getting the best education possible and be able to achieve grades they could not manage in a school environment.

Closer to exams, I show students how to answer exam questions. I am an examiner at AQA so I understand what the examiners are looking for and can help students with exam techniques.

Kathrine 's last completed GCSE job with Charlotte: 1-2 hrs/week - Hi
I am looking for a tutor one evening a week to help my daughter in year 10 secure a grade 5 in her combined science. It’s AQA syllabus. She particularly needs help with physics and chemistry. Ideally someone who has experience supporting less confident students to secure a ‘pass’. Thanks
