I am a 1st Class BSc Honours maths graduate and have been a private maths tutor for 3+ years now. I have helped many students understand topics they could not get to grips with. I specialise up to GCSE maths and have helped numerous students overcome questions they did not feel they could answer. I have also helped retake students pass their re-sits.
I break difficult maths topics down to the basics and build the students’ confidence up. I am very good at spotting gaps in students’ knowledge and target on their weaker areas. I have the new (9-1) resources for all topics in the Edexcel exam board but these can be applied to other boards if needed.
I have just retired after 40 years teaching chemistry. Head of Chemistry for the last 35 years and in Charge of Science for the last 22 years. A home tutor of GCE Chemistry, using CCEA, AQA and EDEXCEL specifications.
I recently took up a senior position with the CCEA examining team for GCE Chemistry and as a result I am unable to tutor students for that specification.

I am a qualified and experienced history teacher as well as A Level examiner/marker. I have taught students to the highest level, achieving grade 9s at GCSE and A*s at A Level, including those who have found elements of the subject challenging. I have also taught the coursework element of the A Level, with my marking being described as 'exemplary' by the moderators. History is a subject that everyone is able to succeed in and I believe in making the tasks seem as simple as possible, breaking down exam techniques into easy strategies and focusing on useful, relevant content. I have a Master's degree in history and am currently studying for a PhD, focusing on 17th Century England. I have experience of teaching the following topics: Edexcel GCSE: Cold War, Nazi Germany, Elizabeth, Crime and Punishment, Post-War Britain. Edexcel A Level: Stuart Britain, Elizabeth, Coursework. AQA A Level: Stuart Britain.
I am friendly, and always try to make my lessons as relevant as possible for my learners.
I have tutored a range of learners: from KS3, GCSE, A level and Undergraduate achieving successful results. I am used to working with different schemes of work and exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR etc. I teach from a skills based approach, my aim is to equip my learners with the knowledge and understanding they need to achieve their goal.
My tuition style is based on the recognition and understanding that each student has their own way of achieving their highest possible results. I fully recognise that in private tuition, the student does not have to compromise and can get the best tutor to suit their individual needs. I try to accommodate the very busy and restrictive schedules of both parents and students, including boarding school students and distance universities. My aim is always to try to help the students achieve their targets.
She finds that academic success is best achieved when students are really engaged with their subject. Georgie enables her tutees to get the grades they want but also teaches students to read deeply; skills which will benefit them throughout their education and later life. She finds that such a focus also helps students develop lateral thinking methods, important for Oxbridge interview.
She has wide experience teaching a range of subjects and syllabuses - from Primary to Undergraduate. She is experienced with a range of exam boards including Edexcel, AQA, Pre-U, OCR and WJEC.
