Dr Leo Evans of Spires Named Finalist for “Education Innovator of the Year” in the EducationInvestor Power List 2025

Spires is delighted to announce that our CEO, Dr Leo Evans, is a finalist in the EducationInvestor Power List 2025 for “Education Innovator of the Year”. The winner will be named on 2 December at a ceremony in Marriott, Grosvenor Square.

The inaugural EducationInvestor Power List honours leaders who are redefining education for the next generation. Reflecting on his nomination, Leo shared:

Being recognised in this way highlights how far online learning has come, and how powerful it can be when driven by the right technology and people. I’m unbelievably proud of what our team and tutors have achieved together.”

About Dr Leo Evans

Dr Leo Evans is a multi award-winning EdTech entrepreneur whose innovations have transformed online learning for more than 50,000 students across 120 countries. Educated at Bryanston School and Imperial College London, Leo earned an MSc in Physics (Distinction) and a PhD in Finance before becoming Vice President at J.P. Morgan in 2012 and later lecturing at Imperial College Business School.

In 2014, he co-founded The Profs, now the UK’s highest-rated tutoring company on Trustpilot for nine consecutive years. The company has been recognised by EducationInvestor Magazine as both “Private Tutoring Company of the Year” (2017) and “EdTech of the Year” (2024).

But nothing speaks to the success of Leo’s trailblazing work quite like its results. Of the thousands of students we supported this year, those who responded to our 2025 client survey reported excellent outcomes. In fact:

97% of our GCSE students improved by +2.4 grades on average.
78% of our GCSE students achieved grades 7-9 (over 3x the national average).
61% of our A-level students achieved A*-A (0% reported being predicted these grades prior to working with Spires).
93% of our undergraduate students moved up by at least 1 grade.
