I am from Singapore, a small island just off Malaysia. Four years ago, I took a teaching scholarship to study at the University of Oxford. Now I am preparing to teach full-time back in Singapore. I will be teaching History and English.
An unusual fact about me is that I have been happily married since my third year as an undergraduate.
I understand well how students whose native language is not English struggle with it, and can better help them with it. I have had experience helping students struggling in English as well as experience coaching students already fluent in the language to write highly effective argumentative essays. In Oxford, I helped refugee students adjust to an all-English environment. In Singapore, I taught elite school students at a prestigious private tuition centre, The Learning Lab. Whether you are learning English as a first or second language, I believe I have had the requisite experience to help you.
I have also helped out on university open days at Oxford University and am happy to provide career advice.
I have had teaching experience in British schools, as well as schools in Singapore where I have come from. In Singapore, I have taught English and History lessons. In Britain, I have completed a teaching placement for university students for English. I sat into classes and provided help to weaker students, assisting them particularly with comprehension and writing exercises.
