In my spare time, I love gym classes, especially weight-training and Step, which consists of choreographed routines involving a Step box. It's about as 1980s as it sounds but great fun, and a bit like dancing. Lifting weights is a brilliant challenge and getting stronger feels amazing. I enjoy reading, the theatre, and independent cinema. I also recently attended a 1940s weekend with my partner in the clothing of the era.
A combination of my English Literature PhD from the University of Sheffield and my diverse degree-level teaching experience, enables me to teach with both expert knowledge and the ability to tailor my approach to the students in question. I have an excellent understanding of the demands of undergraduate study, in the form of seminar preparation, exam revision, dissertation writing and the composing of coursework essays. My PhD focussed on seventeenth-century literature, and I currently teach a second year Renaissance Literature module at the University of Sheffield. I have also previously taught literature at degree level from the medieval era to the twenty-first century.
