I am a Humanities teacher in the North West of England - I love my job and the responsibilities that come with it, be it exam preparation or encouraging each student to hit their target grade. In terms of my education, I`m a graduate of Durham University with first class honours. I studied Geography with Politics and Classics, which was as rewarding as it was varied! I also have a PGCE in Geography from the University of Manchester. I was graded outstanding in all areas for this.
From this September I will be returning to academia, focussing on environmental policy at Cambridge University.
First and foremost, I am a Geography teacher and tutor in the North West. In addition, I have intensively tutored several pupils in Cambridge, in a range of qualifications from GCSE English to A2 Geography. I`ve also provided free tutoring to disadvantaged students in the County Durham area, and have further teaching experience with local schools and a language college in Cambridge, and with overseeing degree dissertations and university applications.
I believe that no one method is suitable for every student, and that getting to know who I`m teaching and working out the best way to pass on relevant knowledge are very important aspects of my work.
I`m also very keen on exam technique- knowing the stuff is only half the struggle. Working out how the paper works and highlighting mark schemes is also a crucial element of revision, and historically students have thanked me for taking the time to teach them to think `like the examiner would`.
I look forward to any enquiries.
Thanks!
