About Me

I am half British, half French Tutor who received straight A*s at GCSE and A Level and went on to read English Literature at UCL.

I passed the 11+ as a child and attended Chelmsford County High School for Girls, followed by gaining the Top Honorary Academic Scholarship to Rugby School. I then moved house once more and passed the 13+ entry exam to Pate's Grammar School in Cheltenham Spa.

I am a friendly, empathetic, intelligent and creative tutor. I care about my students and enjoy helping them to build their confidence and mindset, as well as achieve their academic objectives.

Tutor Experience

I have 10 years of experience working as a Private Tutor in Cheltenham Spa, London, Moscow and internationally. My experience has ranged from working as a Governess and Residential Tutor for UHNW and VVIP families, to working as an outreach tutor for children with SEN and behavioural difficulties, to working overseas with children who have been victims of trauma and conflict.

For the last 5 years, I have continuously been teaching online, and have taught students as young as 5 years of age, right up to experienced business professionals and retired language learners. This experience has taught me vital strategies in engaging students online, built upon an understanding of age, learning style, objectives, technical abilities, personalities and attention span! In every case, I have built a strong positive rapport with clients and have frequently continued to stay in touch with clients or families even after they have passed their exams or succeeded in their objectives.

Topic Expertise

- Exam Preparation and coursework: GCSE, A Level, IB, Cambridge International, IGCSE. My expert subject areas are English Literature, English Language, Theatre Studies/Drama, Film Studies, Media Studies, Marketing/ Business, French and Spanish. I also specialise in helping students with essay- writing (Coursework and Extended Essays) and public speaking or oral assessments.

- Exam Entry: 11+, 13+, ISEB, CE, Scholarship. I have helped students gain entry into leading grammar schools and private secondary schools, including Cheltenham Ladies College, Rugby School, Pate's Grammar School, Wycombe Abbey, etc.

- Language learning, writing, literacy and SEN Support. I have extensive experience helping students with SEN or who are struggling with writing, literacy or learning languages. Many of my students are EAL students who attend International Schools Abroad or who have recently moved to the UK. I have also helped students who are Native English speakers but who have fallen behind at school due to difficulties with writing.

Testimonials

Lucille has been a fab Maths and Literacy Tutor to my four year old daughter Alanah. She is approachable, funny, and Alanah loves her lessons. Since the beginning, I've seen a definite improvement in her skills and her confidence at school.
- Leah Mistry

Lucille is an amazing teacher. She is patient, kind, understanding, and knowledgeable – every characteristic that a teacher should have. She has been a huge help for both my DP film and DP English literature course. Thanks to her help, I was able to successfully finish my DP film independent study (which is a long-term essay project) and with paper 1 for English. If not for her help, I would not have understood what the requirements were and not have been as successful. I highly recommend Lucille for any current DP film or English students, or even aspiring students who are looking forward to a head start!
- Lucy Moon

Lucille has been an amazing English and Spanish tutor. She managed to provide plenty of her time to me, making sure I gained the correct amount of knowledge.
She possesses a positive and enthusiastic personality. She has also built a positive relationship with me which made it easier for me to communicate with her. Her way of teaching is very good as she is very confident and knowledgeable and has the skills of a seasoned teacher.
Her motivation has brought me from a position where I was very weak in English, getting a level 4 out of 7, to a position where I started to have confidence in English and Spanish. This can be seen in my final results where I got a level 6 out of 7 in both Spanish and English.
