About Me

I am a recent history graduate from Kings College, Cambridge, working as a tutor whilst pursuing a career in acting and script-writing. I wanted to become a tutor because I recognise what a huge impact such a person can have on a young adult's life. Growing up, I never found academic studies easy. Putting my thoughts onto paper in a coherent and persuasive manner was always challenging. If I told my sixteen year old self that in six years he would have graduated from one of the UK's top universities, no doubt he would have laughed.
I owe much of my academic success to one tutor in particular. Whilst he helped me with my writing style and exam technique and clarified some areas of confusion in the topics I was studying, perhaps most important was the confidence and curiosity he instilled in me. In fact, he was the one who pushed me to apply for Cambridge in the first place. I am highly aware, therefore, of what makes a good tutor. I understand how tough exams can be and that some students take longer to find their stride. Above all else, I firmly believe that we are all capable of anything we put our minds too provided the right support network has been put in place.

My tutoring approach is, therefore, student-centred. I aspire to create a supportive, friendly and inspiring environment for learning to flourish. I respond dynamically to the requirements of every student, adapting my teaching style to suit their character and interests. I am committed to ensuring my lessons are practical, teaching students efficient techniques for structuring essays and helping them with improving their reading, note-taking, revision skills and writing skills.

Tutor Experience

I have over three years teaching experience. Between the years 2018-2019, I worked alongside Katy Kennedy (who taught English at Dame Alice Owen's) during her booster sessions for students struggling with their English Literature GCSE. Whilst at university I privately tutored a number of a-level history students, all of whom are now attending red brick universities. Last year I also successfully mentored one A-level student aspiring to read history at Cambridge; he is now at Trinity Hall.

Topic Expertise

My area of expertise lies in European and American modern history (post-1800).
