I have recently retired from the Fire Service after 30 years! I have always loved Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, but i was not in a position to pursue them at a younger age. I studied for my degree as a mature student, after many years of being out of education. This means in a lot of cases i had to start from scratch to review my subject matter, whilst holding down a full time job and supporting a young family, so i fully understand and empathise with the difficulties a learner experiences.
I am soon to start a full time position as a private Maths tutor for students with SEND with a local authority, i believe this can only benefit and assist with my online tuition.
I have been a part-time private tutor for over 4 years, helping my students achieve their goals. Working on a one to one basis, enables me to see my students grow in confidence as they realise their potential, which gives me great satisfaction. I recognise that every learner has different needs and goals, I always aim to adapt learning to meet those needs, whether that be exam preparation or understanding of underlying principles. I would consider myself to be very supportive and considerate and would welcome the chance to help more students towards a greater understanding and love of Mathematics.
I am calm, supportive, patient, and friendly. I like to encourage my students participation, to motivate their involvement and push them to raise questions and queries.
