I’m a fully qualified secondary science teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience, specialising in GCSE and A-Level Chemistry and Physics. I also have extensive experience providing one-to-one tuition, both online and in person.

My approach is centred on developing genuine understanding rather than simply teaching students what they need to remember. I break complex ideas down into clear, logical steps and then help students apply that knowledge to unfamiliar problems — a skill that becomes increasingly important at GCSE and A-Level.

I adapt my teaching to the individual student, whether they need to build confidence and close gaps in their understanding, consolidate what they have learned, or push towards the highest grades. I aim to make difficult concepts understandable without unnecessarily simplifying the underlying science.

Alongside subject knowledge, I place considerable emphasis on problem-solving and examination technique. My experience as an examiner gives me a detailed understanding of the demands of exams and the importance of applying knowledge precisely to exam questions.

Most importantly, I want students to become increasingly independent in their thinking. The aim isn't simply to get through the next test; it is to give students the understanding, skills and confidence to tackle problems they haven't seen before.
