Hi there, I am Katja! I am a medical student with strong experience in teaching Biology and Chemistry. After completing the IB program (42/45), I studied as a premed in the Netherlands to pursue a medical degree. My current masters, Regenerative Medicine, focuses on stem cell therapies and tissue engineering.
During my bachelors, however, I found my love for teaching and guiding IB students to best study the extensive biology material and understand the exams. Now, I have extended my tutoring to many ages and phases of one's academic timeline.
My teaching style is adaptable to each student and I have special experience teaching students with learning disabilities and/or language barriers. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is seeing my students excited and confident in such a challenging subject.
My tutoring passion and experience lie in Biology and Chemistry. I’ve tutored IB Biology (HL/SL) for 3 years and Chemistry SL for 2 years, in addition to several years of experience teaching secondary school Maths and Sciences. I have a particular affinity for topics like human physiology, genetics, and molecular biology, which aligns well with my active engagement in the medical and research fields.
In my previous tutoring role, I developed mock exams and provided personalized strategies to help students boost their performance. I combine a structured approach to topic exploration with clear explanations and targeted exam preparation. Paired with my students’ dedication, this method consistently leads to tangible academic improvement.
Studying in a research-intensive field has equipped me with strong critical thinking and academic writing skills, particularly within scientific contexts. My bachelor's thesis, which focused on mechanical and laser-assisted hatching, was awarded Honours. With this background, I’ve been fortunate to guide students through their IB Biology Internal Assessments and am now expanding my support to undergraduate-level work as well.
