About Me

I am a London-based Cambridge graduate (BA Geography) with ten years experience tutoring A-level, GCSE and 11+ geography. I have taught geography both in the classroom and one-to-one and was employed as the Geography teacher at a London college from 2013- 2017. My wealth of experience allows me to confidently guide students through the exam process, be it revision, coursework or past paper practice, and I enjoy working out ways to optimise the learning experience for each individual student. One of the biggest blocks to learning that I witness, is when students cannot see how isolated pieces of information fit into a broader picture. I make a habit of demystifying the syllabus in order to show students exactly what is required of them from the exam board from the beginning.

Alongside tutoring, I have also mentored students on the autism spectrum for several years, something which has had a positive impact on my tutoring practice. Whilst grades remain extremely important, I have found that being a dynamic and well rounded role model can help connect education to a wider world, as well as increase confidence and curiosity. This approach has often translated into improved grades because it leads to more enthusiasm for the subject - something particularly important to geography, which explores the social and environmental challenges we face as a global society.

As well as being a tutor, I compose music and build synthesisers.

Tutor Experience

I have ten years experience tutoring geography at A-Level, GCSE and common entrance. In 2013 I was employed by Fine Arts College, Hampstead to teach geography to years 10, 11, 12 and 13. During my time as head of department, I taught GCSE and A level geography in the classroom, marked coursework, invigilated exams and was observed for their 2017 ISI inspection, for which they were awarded ‘fully compliant’. I worked there for four years and continue to have a good relationship with the college.

As a private tutor, I have taught geography at A level, GCSE, 11+ under multiple exam boards (AQA, OCR, Cambridge International, IB). I spent the last three years teaching geography online at Academia Tutorial School (Warsaw). All my common entrance students received excellent grades in their coursework and exams and got into the schools of their choice. My GCSE and A level students also received their desired grades in order to move on to the next step in their education. The students I teach are no longer just based in London and, thanks to online teaching, I now teach students based in Poland, Kazakstan, Hong Kong and Switzerland.

Alongside my geography tuition, I spent six years mentoring students on the autism spectrum between the ages 16 - 21. One of my students graduated with a merit in their art foundation and a 2.1 in their BA whilst another just got into their university of choice to study costume design. Over the past decade, I have helped many students through the UCAS application process. I also conduct geography diagnostics, which help determine strengths and weaknesses, as well as potential for abstract thought and whether it would be recommended to take the subject to the next level.

Topic Expertise

Over the past academic year I have taught the following Geography syllabuses: AQA, EDEXCEL, CIE, OCR, IB and iGCSE
