Online Chemistry Tutor Matthew

Hello! My name is Matthew, I am 28 years old, and I have been a Chemistry and English teacher and tutor for the past 6 years. I have taught in schools (both online and physically) and tutored students privately (both online and physically).


I strongly believe in the power of education to empower people in the broadest sense of the word. I believe that true education has the potential one's holistic world-view and thus, one's life forever. For this reason, I adopt a student-centred approach to my teaching where I adapt my style to suit my students and act as a guide and facilitator for their learning rather than an expert and content-deliverer.


I have a broad range of interests - from sports to theatre to philosophy to history. I like to keep active, and I enjoy eating, sleeping, reading, and travelling.


I have 6 years of teaching experience - both in formal and non-formal educational environments.


I obtained my Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Chemistry (Hons.) in 2018 and my Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL) in Science in 2022. I also obtained my permanent teaching warrant in 2024. I am also a TEFL-Certified English teacher, having obtained my TEFL in October 2024 and my CELTA in October 2025.


I have taught Integrated Science for a total of 3 years, Chemistry for over 3 years, and English as a Foreign Language for a year in school settings. I have also been conducting informal science club activities and workshops for the past 6 years (this was the subject of my Masters' dissertation).
