About Me
Hi! I'm Andrew. I'm from New York, where I studied literature and American Studies at Columbia University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2016. Since then, I have received an MFA in poetry from Brooklyn College, where I taught in the English Department for a number of years. I have helped students get into a wide variety of elite universities, private schools, and magnet schools, including Princeton, Cornell, Brown, Andover, Groton, Loomis Chaffee, Peter Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, and more. In addition to admissions essays, have helped students with a variety of standardized exams, including the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, and more.
When I'm not teaching, I write and translate poetry and fiction. (My second language is Spanish and I have spent a lot of time in Spain and especially Argentina.) I'm a big fan of art, chess, film, and the Argentine national team.
Tutor Experience
I've been tutoring and teaching since 2016, when I first got my start working in a "cram school" in Hong Kong. Since then, I have taught in a Spanish public school, worked for a number of private tutoring firms, volunteered to help kids one on one, taught in the English Department at Brooklyn College, and more. I help students with a wide variety of tests and subjects. I often work with students on general reading and writing skills, as well as on history and literature. A major part of what I do is help students with admissions essays for U.S. universities and independent schools. The biggest part, however, is definitely standardized testing. I spend about half of my teaching hours helping students with the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, and other standardized admissions tests.
