I have been a school teacher of History for thirty years and have considerable, long-standing experience of tutoring students. From common entrance and scholarship level to post graduate, I work hard with students to achieve their goals in an enjoyable, engaging and inter-active manner. Indeed, I have a notable track record of success in preparing students for entrance to the most prestigious schools in the country, and in delivering outstanding results at GCSE, A Level, IB and also CAIE level examinations. In addition, I have worked in conjunction with a number of families of students with additional needs to ensure that they are supported and nurtered throughout their school careers. I have visited a large number of schools in this country and abroad to deliver targeted revision and skills programmes to whole year groups and have worked confidentially with a number of high profile families.
I have authored a number of widely used text books, published by Oxford University Press and Hodder Education, and continue to deliver a range of national teacher training events for individuals and schools looking to really drive their results in History.
I have extensive experience of examining at the highest level and have authored a number of the specifications currently in use in Britain and overseas. Often, a combination of content knowledge and a precise awareness of exactly what the exam boards demand across the full range of assessment objectives brings outstanding results and I thoroughly enjoying working collaboratively with students to achieve this. Results day is one of the happiest days of the year for me!
Many of my students have struggled slightly with school based feedback and benefit so much from precise and knowledgeable direction - results can be very rapid in History and I believe that together these results are always achievable.

I have taught and tutored across a wide range of periods and examination boards. In addition, my experience at KS3 and at university level has reinforced a deep understanding of History. This has been reinforced by writing or advising on a number of textbooks ranging from the medieval to the modern periods. Such experience is especially directed towards conveying the exact subject knowledge needed to prove understanding rather than simply factual recall of the period. I have wide experience of both domestic qualifications and also international examinations, both of which I have delivered teacher training and authored books for. I cater for all of the major exam boards in addition to helping students to perfect performance on entrance examinations and Oxbridge applications.
