I gained my QTS at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Barnet, one of the UK’s top state schools, where I taught science at KS3 and then biology from KS3 to KS5 for highly able students, many of whom went on to study medicine. During my time there, I also served as Head of Chemistry and Head of Year before moving into the private sector at Epsom College. In my tutoring, I focus on building genuine confidence by guiding students to think carefully and critically about problems rather than spoon-feeding answers, ensuring that complacency doesn’t block an A* grade and that quieter students are motivated to realise their true potential. I have tutored both in person and online (pre- and post-Covid), giving me extensive experience supporting a wide range of learners in different formats.

I’ve worked in laboratories and published more than a dozen peer‑reviewed articles, so I have a very sound understanding of scientific concepts and how they apply in the real world. With my classroom and tutoring experience, I’m able to spot and correct misconceptions before they become embedded, helping students build a secure foundation. I have particular expertise in practical questions and experimental design, and can break these down clearly so students understand both the science and what examiners are looking for. My tutoring focuses on building genuine confidence by getting students to think carefully and critically rather than being spoon‑fed, preventing complacency from blocking an A* and motivating those who haven’t yet shown their full potential.

I have taught to specification of AQA and Edexcel exam boards.
