I have been a private tutor for almost 6 years, focusing primarily on Criminology and English as a Foreign Language. Alongside tutoring, I have been a humanitarian aid volunteer in different parts of the world, and have recently started a carer supporting unaccompanied asylum seekers.
I hold a MPhil in Criminological Research from the University of Cambridge, which was fully funded by the Cambridge Trust scholarship based on educational merit. I also hold a BSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a Year in Professional Practice from the University of Kent, where I obtained four awards for academic excellence. In addition, I hold a Level 5 TEFL Certificate.
Outside of work, I love to travel. I've traveled to 50 countries across 4 continents and seen all seven wonders of the world. I love reading, cooking, scuba diving, yoga and hiking. I also love to hang out with my friends on the weekend and go to music festivals from time to time.
Overall, I'm energetic, fun and professional, which I think is what has enabled me to retain a high volume of students that have proceeded to achieve their target grades. My aim is to make you feel as comfortable as possible, while bringing enjoyment and success to your studies.
I have tutored almost 100 students from primary level through to Master's level in a range of subjects, although my main focus has been on essay/academic writing, thesis/dissertation proposals and planning, editing and proof reading. My area of expertise lie within Criminology, the Social Sciences, Qualitative Research Methods and English as a Foreign Language.

"I was completely overwhelmed when I started university and I was struggling to get anything higher than a 2:2. Lauren explained the writing process in a way that was simple and easy to understand and gave me some important tips. I took 5 classes with her in total and just received my first 1st! Would highly recommend."
"I love my classes with Lauren. She is fun and easy to talk to and makes me feel really comfortable - nothing is ever too much of an ask! She's really good at simplifying complicated topics."
