I began teaching in 2011, several months after completing my MA degree. I spent the first two years of my career in a further education college, teaching A-level history, law and several Access programmes. Once I had completed my PGCE I moved to a secondary school where I managed the A-level law and politics courses for 3.5 years before being promoted to Head of the Social Sciences Faculty. In this role I line managed 6 subjects, whilst continuing to lead A-level Law and Politics. I also taught other subjects within the faculty at GCSE, particularly sociology and psychology. I became the EPQ centre co-ordinator in 2017 and supported many students through this process.
Outside of teaching and tutoring I prioritise spending time with my husband and young daughter. I do a number of arts and crafts from candle making to doll house decorating. I love getting lost in a good book but equally enjoy watching the latest tv series and films. I also enjoy playing the odd playstation game.
I am a passionate and skilled teacher with 13 years of experience. I specialise in A-Level Law, and A-Level Politics, both of which I have led for 11 years. I have also been a Head of Social Sciences since 2017, managing a number of departments and have taught GCSE Sociology and Psychology. I have an excellent track record of success at A-Level, and have consistently helped students to achieve or exceed their target grades. I have always received excellent feedback on my teaching and have delivered much CPD to my colleagues on effective teaching. I pride myself on building a strong rapport with students and will always endeavour to support them as much as possible. I enjoy the creativity of lesson planning, and my students have always commented on my passion and genuine enjoyment of teaching. I have a good sense of humour and plenty of patience and I am approachable and diligent.
I have 12 years of experience in teaching AQA a-level law. I am able to teach all 3 papers and my preferred paper 3 option is Human Rights. My results for this specification have consistently shown that my students achieved above the national average across all 3 papers, and significantly so in regards to the extended substantive law essays.
I have 12 years experience in teaching Edexcel politics at A-level. I have specialised in both UK and US politics, though am also familiar with the global politics content. My areas of expertise in this subject are essay writing and exam skills.
