Over eight years, I have taught more than 110 students privately and through established tutoring organisations, working with British and international families across school qualifications, entrance examinations and university study.

My big picture approach starts with the intended outcome and works backwards. The course, assessment calendar, target and current work become a live plan, not a fixed sequence of worksheets. I use the first full lesson diagnostically, then choose what to teach, revisit or extend as new evidence emerges.

I pay attention to more than whether an answer is correct. Can the student independently choose the appropriate method, explain why it works and recognise it in a different setting? That distinction guides what we teach next and when we move on.

Personalised printable workbooks bring explanations, worked examples, practice, homework and corrections together. Revision quicksheets capture the methods and mistakes that need further attention. Earlier learning returns through active recall and spaced practice, with support gradually removed as the student becomes more independent.

The resources develop into a cumulative record of the student’s learning, so revision is organised around their own performance rather than another collection of generic notes.

Students leave with clear work between sessions, and parents receive concise updates on progress and priorities.

My SAT preparation programme
I actively teach both SAT sections through Spires and established tutoring organisations. Using official College Board materials and Bluebook practice, I build a question level picture of performance across Maths and Reading and Writing. We distinguish content gaps from interpretation, timing and decision making, then direct lessons and independent work accordingly.

For longer programmes, practice results guide the balance between sections and the progression towards timed tests. At higher scores, the focus becomes precision, unfamiliar application and avoiding repeated errors, rather than simply doing more questions.

University study: Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business and Finance, particularly mathematical methods, quantitative reasoning, economic models and applied problem solving. I work directly from the student’s module, notation and assessment requirements.

A Level and International A Level: Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics, Business and Computer Science. Tuition develops subject understanding alongside independent problem solving, precise explanations and effective exam technique.

IB Diploma: Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Business, including Maths and Physics at Higher Level. Support combines conceptual understanding with the calculations, application and written reasoning appropriate to the course.

GCSE and IGCSE: Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business and Computer Science. I support students strengthening foundations and those working towards grades 8 and 9.

Entrance examinations and university applications: 11+, 13+ and Common Entrance Maths and Non Verbal Reasoning, alongside support with course selection, personal statements, UCAS and direct university applications. Across related subjects, the advantage is continuity: one tutor who understands the student’s thinking and can coordinate the work rather than treating each course in isolation.

Digital SAT Maths and Reading and Writing
Maths: Algebra, functions, data analysis, geometry and trigonometry, alongside efficient problem solving and strategic use of Desmos.

Reading and Writing: Grammar, punctuation, vocabulary in context, inference, evidence, text structure and argument. The focus is the specific reasoning and language skills assessed by the SAT, rather than general English tuition.

Across both sections, I teach method selection, pacing and accurate decisions under pressure. Students learn to recognise when their first approach is inefficient and switch methods confidently without losing valuable time. Preparation can begin with foundations or concentrate on the smaller inconsistencies preventing a strong student from reaching a higher score.
