About Me

👋 A seasoned educator with a deep-rooted passion for fostering academic excellence in the fields of organic chemistry, mathematics, and physics. With an illustrious career spanning 8 years, I am here to help you succeed in the long run, both academically and emotionally. If you would genuinely love to understand what is happening in your science or math course, do not hesitate to reach out and let us put all of the pieces together into a clearer picture with simple strategies and approaches! In short, I have a double bachelor's degree in chemistry and mathematics from the University of St Andrews. I mainly focus on organic chemistry and branches of calculus, including applied mathematics for physics when it comes to mechanics, kinematics and thermodynamics.

👣 Primarily, I am an educator who loves to apply the Socratic method in my teaching, so that I can easily keep track of what my students are good at and what needs to be strengthened. During my past collaborations, I would most commonly be characterized as a "patient" tutor who "tries to simplify the concepts and find shortcuts in every possible scenario to make it easy for anyone to understand", but from my own perspective, I would simply characterize myself as down-to-earth, approachable and curious to learn new things in every situation I encounter, both in science and life.

🗺️ Aside from academics, I loved to have huge hitchhike trips all over Europe, relocated to live in Thailand 5 years ago, and since then also lived in South Korea, currently residing in the Philippines since the beginning of 2023. My main areas of interest revolve around film studies, academic and popular music, philosophy, and spirituality.

Tutor Experience

With over 15,000 interactions with students worldwide (combined for chemistry, mathematics, and physics), I began my journey as an online tutor for live and written lessons at Chegg Tutors, where I built a 99.2 % rating and acquired over 1,600 positive reviews back in 2016. Later I joined Upswing and focused on working with adult learners and college students. I also got a position to work as a content writer at Study.com for the Q&A section of science subjects with over 3,500 content pieces written and switched to a content reviewer's role later in a year with 1,500 pieces of work reviewed. I eventually started concentrating on video content and created a course for best practices in tutoring at Livingston Research.

Currently, I am a full-time employee at Pearson. My position could simply be summarized as a multi-subject video tutor, and a lead organic chemistry tutor. I primarily specialize in producing video content with short video explanations of selected textbook problems (over 1,200 videos produced to date) and their variations, as well as leading and supporting my team toward reaching our yearly goals.

Offline, I had a chance to work with a class of 20 bright students for 6 months helping them prepare for the International Chemistry Olympiad and focused on some private tutoring.

Topic Expertise

🧪 Chemistry (general, analytical, inorganic & organic)
♾️ Mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra, business calculus, trigonometry, geometry, calculus 1, calculus 2, differential equations, statistics)
🌌 Physics 1 (mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics)

Client Reviews

I finally understood vectors! Very patient and stayed extra time after the lesson was "over" to make sure I was ok with vectors. great tutor

Testimonials

Ernest is a phenomenal tutor. He's extremely knowledgeable in organic chemistry and will hands down help you succeed. Better than anybody you're going to find, online or in person. Highly recommend him for any of your organic chemistry needs.

Ernestas continues to make difficult topics easy and straightforward! He's great at meeting you at your knowledge level and provides practice problems during the lesson to make sure you understand a topic. He's saving my chemistry grade one session at a time!

Ernestas has been the best tutor I worked with yet. He takes the time to go through every detail with me. I ask him for organic chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, or anything I ask him he seems to know it all. He is confident with his knowledge and I'm confident with the excellent work I get from him. I worked with tutors who took their time to help me with problems that take twice as long with far fewer details than what Ernestas does. Last but not least, he loves doing this as well, his passion for his education and his tutee's understanding show in each lesson.

Phenomenal tutor... Extremely determined to help in any way that he can and will not stop until he's satisfied with the response. Makes sure you understand the problems and is very knowledgeable... Would come to him for help with chemistry anytime. Highly recommend!

Spent double the minutes I paid for in chat to help me understand a written lesson that I didn't understand on a conceptual level. VERY few tutors go this extra step to help students, especially on this site. Highly highly recommend.

Ernestas helped me in organic chemistry II. He is by far one of the smartest and kindest people I have ever met. He spent hours explaining concepts to me and answered my endless questions. His understanding of organic chemistry is extremely advanced, yet he is good at simplifying and explaining the basics as needed. Ernestas is by far the best tutor you could ever wish to talk with, online or otherwise. Consider yourself extremely lucky if you get the chance to learn from or even just talk with him. A thousand thanks to this beloved tutor.
