About Me
I have taught in the state, private and grammar systems within the UK. I was previously a Cancer Research Scientist, so have a wide range of skills as a practical scientist, and have developed practicals for schools to use and trained staff and technicians to use them. I have been an examiner for over ten years, and now review papers after results are released. I am a test constructor at A Level, which involves preparing papers for students to sit. I have been an OFQUAL subject specialist for nearly two years in A Level Biology. Outside of teaching I enjoy travel, growing my own produce, being a member of a local book club and continuing my own learning. As a result, I remain able to teach, and also understand what it is like to be a learner.
Tutor Experience
I have been a qualified teacher for over 20 years, but have been tutoring and supporting students with exams since I was 22. I have run my own private tutoring business for the past 8 years. I work with individuals online, small groups, half term revision weeks in person and online and produce content on YouTube and via my website. I have experience with students who are homeschooled, have a range of SEND, and with students across the ability range in Science, from 11+ to undergraduate level in Biological and Biomedical Sciences. I design lessons to suit the individual I am working with, ensuring the style, pace and type of learning suits what the student needs. This can vary between topics or subjects. I have a large range of powerpoint material, worksheets, exam style questions, practical style questions and can also work free form with a student on material they are currently studying to support their learning and answer questions as we progress through concepts.

11+, KS3 Science, KS4 Science ( up to grade 9 in Combined and Separate Science), KS5 Biology and KS5 P.E Anatomy and Physiology, Undergraduate Biology and Biomedical Science. I have experience in all the UK exam boards, and also teach IB, CIE, and other international qualifications.
