About Me
I am a calm, approachable and engaging tutor with a strong academic and professional background across business, economics, finance and law. I particularly enjoy making complex concepts accessible and connecting academic theory with practical, real-world examples.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Law & Business Studies from the University of Liverpool and a Graduate Diploma in Law. I also hold professional qualifications from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, including the CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma and CISI Level 4 Certificate in Paraplanning.
I have over 12 years of professional experience, including senior leadership roles within FTSE 100 companies, together with more than 15 years of practical experience in financial markets and derivatives. This gives me a particularly strong foundation for teaching Business, Economics and professional Finance, allowing me to illustrate concepts using genuine examples from organisations, markets and investment decision-making.
My combination of academic study, professional qualifications and practical experience allows me to approach subjects from both a theoretical and applied perspective, helping students understand not just what they need to learn, but why it matters and how it works in practice.
Tutor Experience
I have over 150 hours of tutoring experience through Titanium Tutors, Superprof and Spires, supporting students across GCSE, A-Level, university and professional finance qualifications.
I specialise in Law, Business, Economics and Finance, including supporting professionals preparing for CISI examinations in UK Financial Regulation, Securities and Derivatives. My lessons combine clear explanation of difficult concepts with structured exam technique, analytical thinking and targeted question practice.
I have supported students in achieving significant results, including helping a GCSE Business student progress from a predicted Grade 2 to a final Grade 9, supporting a Business degree student with dissertation development who achieved a 2:1, and helping CISI Capital Markets candidates pass professional examinations following unsuccessful previous attempts.
My teaching style is calm, supportive and structured, with lessons tailored to each student's starting point, learning style and objectives. For academic students, I focus on developing subject understanding alongside the application, analysis, evaluation and exam technique required to achieve higher marks.
For professional finance candidates, I use previous exam results, mock performance and weaker learning outcomes to identify where marks are being lost and build targeted study plans. When working through questions, I focus not only on the correct answer but why it is correct and why plausible alternatives are wrong.
Ultimately, my aim is to give students a clear understanding of their subject, greater confidence and a structured route towards measurable improvement.
