Throughout my life, I have always been passionate about literature. I graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in English Language and Literature in 2022. After university, I moved to London and worked as an English Academic Mentor at the highest-achieving school in Tower Hamlets, which ranked in the top 7% nationally for attainment. In 2024, I qualified as an English Teacher with Teach First and continued to teach at the same high-performing secondary school. After working as an English Teacher for four years, I have returned to academia to study 18th and 19th Century Literature at the University of Edinburgh. It's been wonderful to continue teaching through Spires whilst I continue my own studies.
Outside of teaching, I contribute to various creative writing projects and magazines. I also enjoy long-distance running, crochet and embroidery!
I am a fully qualified English Teacher (with a PGCE) with extensive experience in both the classroom and 1:1 tutoring. My first role in education was as an English Academic Mentor. The role often involved supporting SEND students in the classroom or through targeted interventions. Often, these students lacked confidence, and it was wonderful to see them grow and flourish in a 1:1 setting. As a classroom teacher, I have continued to develop my pedagogical approach and have gained an in-depth knowledge of both GCSE and A-Level exam specifications. I also have extensive experience mentoring students for Oxbridge, supporting them with both personal statements and interview prep. My teaching approach is characterised by patience, empathy and an openness to students’ ideas.
