I studied Computer Systems Engineering, a joint honours degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, at Cardiff University. After graduating, I worked as a developer at Atos Origin, developing systems for the steelworks in Port Talbot, Wales, as well as software for mobile phones. After nearly two years in industry, I decided to pursue my passion for teaching mathematics.
I have always loved mathematics and see its beauty beyond its practical use. While scientists view it as a tool for discovery, philosophers use it to explore meaning, and quantum physicists regard it as the fundamental language of the universe. As a teacher, I have often been told that I make complex A-level mathematics feel as accessible as primary-level concepts. I consider this a great compliment, as it reflects my deep understanding and ability to explain ideas simply and clearly.
My engineering background, industry experience, and teaching advanced mathematics to Rolls-Royce apprentices have shaped me into a teacher who strongly connects mathematical theory to real-world applications. This approach motivates students and helps them appreciate the relevance of what they learn.
I have taught in both private and comprehensive schools in the UK, and my passion for travel led me to work in international schools, including in Tanzania. While I have backpacked across South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe, living and working abroad has provided far richer life experiences.
From 2015 to 2020, I ran my own tutoring academy, which unfortunately closed due to the pandemic. Running the academy gave me valuable insight and significantly enhanced my ability to support students who need additional help.
Alongside teaching, I practise art and have synaesthesia, allowing me to translate music into paintings. I am also a keen surfer, having started 24 years ago in Wales, and the sport remains a lifelong passion.
I have 20 years experience teaching mathematics from KS3 to KS5 and degree level maths. I can also teach Physics up to year 11.
On top of teaching at schools I also experience in tutoring students at my tutoring centre that I used to run for 5 years before the covid pandemic.
I have an engineering degree and practical experience in industry which aids me in connecting maths concepts to real life applications when I teach. I have also taught engineering students and have experience in teaching Advanved mathematis and Mechanical principles to Rolls Royes apprencices in UK.
I can make even the most complex maths concepts seem easy and seemless and that is my best ability as a maths teacher.
I have taught in schools and colleges in Uk and also have experience teaching in international school abroad.
I have a high percentage of high grades in IGCSE and AS and Alevel maths.
I can teach maths up to and including university level. I have experience teaching AS and Alevel and also IB maths. I have experience in both Edexcel and Cambridge exam boards.
In AS and Alevel maths I can teach all Pure maths (P1, P2, P3 and P4), Mechanics (M1, M2, M3 and M4), Further maths all modules , Statistics and Decision maths. I am experienced in both Alevel and international Alevel.
I can teach core, extended, and higher GCSE and IGCSE maths
