I have been teaching and tutoring Chemistry and Biology for over 25 years, from GCSE through to A-Level, and my passion for the subject and for my students has only grown stronger with time. My approach is guided discovery — I begin by building on what each student already knows, sparking curiosity with real-world questions and problems, and guiding them to work out answers for themselves, because knowledge discovered is knowledge retained. I have extensive experience supporting international students and those with SEND, and I taught exclusively online throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, so I am equally confident and effective in person or remotely. I am known for my patience, warmth, and ability to make even the most challenging concepts accessible — and nothing gives me greater satisfaction than watching a student who once believed they "couldn't do" Chemistry calculations suddenly realise that they can.
With over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I have worked with students across a wide range of ages, abilities, and backgrounds. I began giving private lessons at the age of 18 alongside my university studies, and have offered one-to-one coaching and catch-up sessions throughout my entire school career. My classroom experience spans three countries — Hungary, the Netherlands, and the UK — including thirteen years as a Chemistry teacher and Head of Science at Earlscliffe College in Folkestone, where I also served as Curriculum Area Manager for STEM. I have taught Biology and Chemistry from GCSE through to A-Level, supervised Extended Project Qualifications, mentored trainee teachers, and worked as an examiner for the Hungarian Ministry of Education. I am equally experienced teaching in person and online, having delivered live lessons exclusively remotely for almost two years during the Covid-19 pandemic, and I have a strong track record supporting international students, students with SEND, and those preparing for Oxbridge entry.

Hello, my name is Miguel Azcoitia, a former student of Professor Goldmann at Earlscliffe School in 2013.
Honestly, he was the teacher at the entire school from whom I learned the most, and above all, I loved the passion with which Robert always taught both chemistry and biology!
Without a doubt, I recommend him 100%.

Chemistry was one of my favourite A-Level subjects, mainly because of Mr Goldmann. He created a positive learning environment and had a way of making complex topics, especially organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms, accessible and easy to follow. His passion for teaching was obvious in every lesson, and he always went above and beyond to support his students whenever they needed help. His support played a huge part in me achieving an A* in A-Level Chemistry. I have no doubt that anyone working with Mr Goldmann as a private tutor will benefit greatly from his expertise, dedication and enthusiasm. Harry Oo, UK
