About Me

About Me

I am a highly experienced geography teacher with almost 20 years of working in education. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping learners achieve their full potential, encouraging them to develop confidence, curiosity and a genuine enthusiasm for the world around them. As a passionate geographer myself, I particularly enjoy bringing the subject to life and inspiring students to see geography not simply as something studied in the classroom, but as a way of understanding the landscapes, people and environments that shape our world.

Outside the classroom, you will often find me exploring some of the UK’s most spectacular landscapes. I particularly enjoy spending time in the Lake District, Peak District, Snowdonia and the Scottish Highlands, as well as travelling further afield to discover places of geographical interest and significance. These experiences continually fuel my own love of geography, and I enjoy sharing that enthusiasm, knowledge and sense of discovery with the students I teach.

Tutor Experience

Teaching and Tutoring Experience

I have many years of experience teaching both GCSE and A-level Geography in thriving high schools, supporting students with a wide range of abilities, learning styles and individual needs. One of my key specialisms is SEND, and I am particularly passionate about making the Geography curriculum accessible to students who may face barriers to learning. I believe that every student should have the opportunity to succeed and develop confidence in their abilities.

My approach is to make learning as engaging, enjoyable and memorable as possible. Alongside developing geographical knowledge and understanding, I teach practical strategies and techniques that, once embedded, can be transferred confidently into examinations. This helps students approach assessments with greater independence and equips them with the skills needed to achieve their potential.

I also have almost 20 years of private tutoring experience. During this time, I have worked with students in a variety of settings, including tutoring in students’ homes, welcoming students to my own home, and delivering engaging one-to-one lessons online. This extensive experience enables me to adapt my teaching to the individual, creating personalised lessons that build knowledge, confidence and effective exam technique.

Topic Expertise

My lessons are highly structured, supportive, and completely tailored to the individual student's needs. Because content knowledge is only half the battle, my tutoring heavily emphasizes rigorous exam technique.I teach students how to decode command words, interpret complex mark schemes, and construct flawless 6 and 9-mark extended responses. Using past papers, examiner reports, and custom resources, I build the skills and confidence required to consistently bridge the gap to Grades 8 and 9.
